i know my 4000 is outdated, yada yada, but going for a whole new rig is out of the question for a while as i'm looking into a laptop for myself, but the question i have is that i'm thinking of grabbing a dual core chip for my agin 939 system, and my question is should i grab a dual core chip for this thing or is my single core at 3.1Ghz fine for now?? i'm willing to spend maybe 200-300 max for the upgrade, but i'm not gonna replace anything but the cpu, i'd like some imput maybe some suggestions on what to get??

If you can use a dual core opty than that would be good.If you can't use an opty than a x2 3800 x2 maybe good if you can get one that overclocks.

A recently produced toledo core would be nice. My 170 is great, but since you're willing to spend the money might as well go for a 185.

I have a 170 at 3ghz right now, not orthos stable but for the most part rock solid. I would go with a 180 if i had the choice again. Hope it helps.

Single cores are outdated.... Its horrible the difference... My old Intel 915D 2.8 dual core kept up with my friends 3.2 Extreme.
