Should I Plug SSD (OS) Into Marvell Controller?

Hi guys,
So I have the following:
SSD: Patriot Pyro SE PPSE120GS25SSDR 2.5" 120GB SATA II...
Mobo: ASRock P67 EXTREME4 GEN3 LGA 1155 Intel P67 SATA 6...

I saw a video, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VeS2bRir4Lk, saying that Pyro SE will perform at its best if it is controlled by a Marvell Controller. The listed mobo has a marvell controller, but the newegg guy says that the sata inputs will run faster if plugged into the p67 chipset.
So my question is should I plug the listed SSD into the Marvell Controller or the p67 controller of the motherboard? Which controller will give me the 5xx mbs read and write speed.

Well I suppose you could try them both and see which one is faster. I would personally go with the chipsets.

I would try both but if I open the shrink wrap then I won't be able to return. Should I get a different SSD that will perform faster without the Marvell Controller.

Put in the sata 3 port of the p67 chipset, marvel sucks and then you are capped at around 250 mbps stupid pci-e 2x

Normal advice for any SSD is NOT to connect to the Marvell controller but to use the Intel Chipset controller, I think because it is "native" and therefore throughput is a bit faster, this tends to be a general consensus backed up Board manufacturers in their forums.

Not sure why your SSD would be recommended to use off the Marvell controller but if it's the manufacturer saying that then I would go with it.... they surely know more than I do on the subject.

Why does it state it in the description then? Trying to mislead buyers?

The reads and writes are posted on the box, and likely your zero fill numbers. Once the OS is on the drive things will slow down a bit from those denotes speeds.

To simply answer the 500MB/s question, yes you can buy them off the shelf.

NO they potentially can run much faster than "250MB/s", even into the mid 400s, but to hit that magic number on the box once the OS is in and a couple other things, the drives will slow down. All of my SSDs I use are over 50% full and I can fell the difference in the speeds from when I first put in the SSD. As you look at reviews you will see as the drive fills performance is degraded, just part of the technology at this time.

Not that 5xx mbs read and write really matters as this SSD is just for my HTPC, but I just wanted to know if 5xx mbs read and write are achievable. But I guess not, taking into account the storage and the OS.

Mine is a SATA 3 SSD but I am running it on SATA2.... no firmware upgrades.....

No because it makes zero sense in every respect.

The Intel SATA 6gb ports won't just run faster, the chipset and DMI have enough bandwidth to drive both ports at full speed. I've confirmed this, at least with SATA3 on my X79 and I don't expect much difference in implementation between the two.

This is two Force GTs in RAID-0 that I achieved using the X79 ports. Clearly there is enough bandwidth, at least on the Intel chip for SATA3.

I think that guy that was talking about the SSD provided in the OP said that he also tried it on a x79 board. Will there be any difference on a p67 board?

SATA 6 is faster on P67/Z68 than it is on X79. dont ask me why it just is
