Thank you.

I bought last week. I could not test it enough, but I have not had a problem yet.

It’s not a motherboard. There’s nothing to “update” Very rare cases the manufacturer puts out an actual update for a GPU.

If it is on warranty then you have totally nothing to worry about. If update is available then apply it. In the worst case if anything will go wrong then you will just RMA the card and they will properly reflash it or replace.

This is not very good advice
If there is nothing wrong with the Card there is no need to flash the Bios
Even if Updates are Available "IT IS INADVISABLE TO FLASH BIOS WITH UPDATE WITHOUT PERMISSION OF THE BOARD SUPPLIER.

FLASHING THE BIOS WITHOUT PERMISSION PROBABLY INVALIDATES WARRANTY

If it's not broke don't fix it , I don't even think the OC is worth it with 1070 ( cause it's already very good) if that what you want to update for .

I would read the warranty before doing anything. If the manufacturer finds out you did something not on their approved list of steps,for example using a program they didn't list, or a bios, etc, they can treat your video card rma like you threw it against the wall , because if something goes wrong and you didn't follow their steps exactly ,it was damaged through human error and they're not likely going to be obligated to cover it warranty wise. I don't know for sure, I just advocate that you check first , and I also advocate that you verify that it's an actual update ,because very rarely do manufacturers release updates for gpu bios'. And they most certainly wont cover a GPU "update" if its a bios file written by some dude in the Ukraine, it has to be a set process, they have predetermined often.

Lol, there is still so many myths about flashing bios and people actually believe in them. People, this is 2018, not 1998, bios updates are easy and when file is provided by manufacturer themselves then they do RMA gpus, motherboards, mice and all other devices which failed during flashing.

No, not for a video card unless the manufacturer says it needs an update.

I know they are easy, i have done them, BUT, them being easy doesnt mean there arent 10,000 new GPU owners who see a post , on some random forum abotu getting an extra possible 5% of Perf if they flash their Bios/ , then they try it, and end up with a bricked card. I dont need to defend my point, take a minute, and search "bricked Bios" or "bad Flash" in the TPU search thread bar, and You can see for yourself. I dont lose anything if people damage their cards, but i DO care about the TPU community, and if I can advocate people learning more , and bricking less, ill do it. only a fool would recommend not to study a process (especially one that can potentially ruin a very expensive component). I have too many times, tried to help members recover GPU's that they bricked , which for me would have been really a simple process, but the bad flash happened just the same. something being easy has nothing to do, with wether or not some people will screw the process up (sadly).

Also, i didnt bring up any myths about flashing, i simply recommended caution over carelessness. Ive been working with PC's for a very long time, and I have learned over the years , NEVER underestimate how badly , even the simplest things can go , when a person doesnt use common sense, and good judgement.

While what you say May be Relativity Accurate The Manufacture/partner will only Authorize a Bios Flash "IF THERE IS A KNOWN PROBLEM"
Unauthorised Flashing of BIOS will Invaladate Any WARRANTY

@TiFOSi

the Warranty specifics are VERY detailed, and mention not covering a great deal of actions, although it is easy to say "do it man" and hope it turns out well for You, I prefer to advocate caution (im not saying dont try it), im just suggesting You take the proper steps to ensure Your butt is covered, in case somethin Does go wrong. And, lets keep in mind, even if they DO cover, and honor an RMA, that process sucks, as it takes a month or so often.

This warranty is only valid if the product:
  • 1. Was installed per GALAX instructions;
  • 2. Was not damaged during installation or removal from the computer;
  • 3. Was not damaged by software or hardware, including software or hardware incompatibility;
  • 4. Was maintained and operated under conditions of normal use in accordance with GALAX specifications;
  • 5. Was not damaged by overclocking or modification by someone other than GALAX.

The warranty shall not apply where product(s) are used to any degree, outside of normal intended use, which shall include but not limited to “MINING” (e.g., Cryptocurrency, Data Mining, Mining Farms).”

if You'd like, this is the link to the Galax warranty disclaimer, id read through it
this is why i suggest being cautious.
good luck with whatever you choose.

i wonder how a company can prove you used it for mining, or if they will just start denying everyone warranty claims lol

honestly, i think it is just them covering their butt. a Lot of warranty contention points/matters cant be proven often, its up to the buyers "honesty" sometimes ;)

With some of the updates and issues nowadays with manufactures. I would be hesitant in updating anything without research and waiting to see what other experience. Remember an update can lower performance as well as increase it, and if your happy with it and have no issues leave it alone. And in the case of a GPU NEVER just RMA it if there is an issue

You do not need to flash your bios unless directed by the card manufacturer technical support team to fix major problems, so leave it alone

Agree with most of the comments above dont flash the card BIOS unless you are directed by Galaxr to do so. Im pretty sure Galax should supply you with the correct BIOS for your card if needed. You can brick your card IF the BIOS flash is not done correctly or not the actual BIOs from Galax.

Honestly, I doubt that clause is even legally enforcable, but meh.

Totally. Only once have I had a card that the manufacturer said to update a BIOS. That was a GTX 580, and it specifically stopped the fan only going to 80% and allowed 100%.
