Should I upgrade my ryzen 2600 to a 3700x?

Hello everyone, I have been thinking about upgrading my club to a ryzen 3700x from my 2600.

So my question would it would be worth it? Would the 3700x pair well with my 3060 ti?

I would consider q more powerful cpu but I don't think my motherboard would support it.

Mobo model? Guessing you probably don't already have X570 or B550 with that 2600.

Depending on the answer to above, a 3700X could bring PCIe 4.0 to your 3060Ti. Depending on how many slots and lanes you're consuming, that could potentially have benefits. Better single thread performance plus more cores, that will usually show a decent boost all around. More L3 cache has been shown to be beneficial to gaming. If you need an easy CPU to drive in your mobo (which we don't absolutely know yet), what about a 5600 at <$200? Or do you already have a bead on a cheap 3700X?

This motherboard will support a range of newer CPUs but not with the original BIOS. I suggest you have a look HERE, BIOS

As long as you have bios version 4007 or higher then you have support for original line of 5000 series chips (Bios 4801 or higher for newer revisions such as the 5600 non-x, 5700x, 5800X3d)

5600 uses less overall power than the 3700x and has higher efficency so I don't understand why the VRM would be an issue (if the VRM can handle a 3700x then it can handle a 5600)

Well if thats the case I will go with the 5600x when I decide to upgrade unless I can find a 3700x for significantly cheaper.

Ryzen 3000 and later supports Resizable BAR but your current cpu doesn't (your GPU supports Resizable BAR), but a regular 5600 or 5600x would be the better gaming choice for AMD atm. Your mobo should support a 5600 or 5600x.

Move to a 5600, 5700, 5800.

I mean, on used market 3700x goes for ca. 900-1000 PLN, new 5600X is 980 PLN, new 3700x is 1350 PLN (basically the same price I bought mine back in 2019).

Ryzen 1600af supported SAM resizable BAR, so 3700x should definitely, and it's no reason to upgrade for this as there's little to no improvement with his current GPU anyway, though a 5700/5800/X would be a good upgrade CPU-wise, the 5600x whilst it has better single thread and overall better gaming performance will lose out in highly multithreaded performance
