Should I upgrade my video card

I got a GTX 560 ti and I want to know should I save money to get the GTX 680 or should I sell my GTX 560 ti and get a GTX 580( I already got some money to afford the GTX 580)

I play at 1440x900 but I would like to get another monitor.


OR should I wait for the GTX 660 to come out?

The 560TI should handle 1440x900 easy! IMO I would stick with what you have and see the other kepler line come out.

Agree with Brandonwh64, stick with what you have for now. If anything buy a better screen now to be prepared for your purchase after. 600 series is brand new still, you can get a bigger screen and wait for some price drop action

Buy a better monitor first and then if the 560ti doesnt work well enough you have your reason to upgrade the video card later.

The 680 is proven to be slightly overrated I'd stick with what you have til the next kepler comes out. Your gpu should handle that resolution no problem

If your games still run okay, I would say stick it out and see what both AMD and nVidia have to bring to the table in the next quarter or two. I'm sure they both have something good brewing for the future.

Given the specifications you've given, there's no reason to spend the money on an upgraded card.

Yes, the 560ti is labeled as mid-range. The flip side is that you aren't generating images at higher resolution, and you're looking at a significantly overpowered replacement. I've got a 6870 running a 1920x1080 monitor that has yet to encounter an unplayable frame rate drop, on moderate to high settings, for anything but BF3.

If I were in your shoes I'd spend the upgrade money on a decent, higher resolution, monitor. The 560ti isn't going to be a bottleneck for 1680x1050, and you'll only see minor performance flagging at 1920x1080 (for most, but not all) games on moderate settings.

First, get a better monitor. See if you have problems in your favorite games. You can get another 560Ti for as low as 190$. In SLI they are in the ballpark of the 680.

Another 560Ti is out of the question; the board doesn't support native SLI. FIRST Go with a new display as depicted. If it's not enough then your best bet BUDGET wise is to sell the 560Ti, and then eventually go with a single 7900, this will allow you to Xfire at a later point if you wish.

Alternatively, you could sell your board, put a little bit of funding towards one with SLI and get a 2nd 560Ti. May end up being cheaper than the 7900's and outperform it, but then you would be running a dual GPU configuration. Little hassle to setup but once optimized, runs like a champ.

Over rated? it beats out the 7970 at a better price and lower power, if it's over rated the 7970 should be labelled exceedingly under whelming.
