Get the next gen I think. You are late into the cycle. 1060 has been out already 1.5 year. In theory the next 1160/2060 will be better in some way, might as well wait for it IMO. I think it will be out in 2018.

He's still got quite awhile to wait. I say OP should go for it. He is dreaming though if he thinks he can get $120.00 for his 960.

Well congratulations. It's not the normal current rate for them, that's why I said it.

You're welcome for the advice to upgrade, too, btw.

Would be surely a very good upgrade, but like someone already said, next year should see a new generation of cards at least from nvidia, so you might actually wait and get a 1160 or whatever nvidia decides to call them for probably a similar amount, but with probably 20-30% increase in performance.

Yea but that’s the waiting game, I’d hate to wait and then they come out with the 1170 and 1180 and not the 1160 for a while and I’m stuck with the 960 still and plus I’ll make absolutely 0 money on the 960 then

Owned. LOL

Seems like a very sensible swap & upgrade. You timed it almost! right, this is how I do these upgrades too. For reference, I tend to upgrade GPU every 1,5-2 years but then I'm a tier higher (so less impact on performance). Don't keep a GPU for too long if you want to resell like this, the 960 would have been a better sale 6 months ago when the 1070 prices peaked and the 1060 was more recent. I sold a 780ti about that long ago for almost the same price as buying it, cost of ownership total was 65 EUR :D

i wouldnt go from Gen to the next...too small of an upgrade in perf IMO. atleast 2 gens, or models.

some guys do it, IMO ,i think thats something fore a more "obsessive" enthusiast. i personally rather wait/ skip Gens, its never served me wrong. seems as tho im late to this , so good luck with your new card

960 to 1060 is about 3 times what one gen to the next normally is, so it is definitely worth it in this case.

I just make it a habit of mine to not upgrade from generation to generation ,it's A hassle IMO and frankly it's proven to be needless in my experience. Keep in mind this is a rule I formed over many years, not one that I formed over the generation jump from 9xx to 10xx..... I tend to base my decisions on the rule, not the exception.
I'm sure occasionally you'd get lucky by doing it every Gen ,but how many times do you get unlucky?(*cough*fury owners) To each his own, but I'll stick with my way ;)

2GB > 6GB and probably over 2,5x the shader potential... yeah I'd jump on that. You have to keep in mind the 960 was notoriously shitty.

He's probably talking Canadian. I guess this since he quoted the price of the GTX1070 in CAD.

Hey, wherever he sold it, I'm glad he was able to get a good price for it! It always makes the upgrade easier.

Yeah, but being in Canada it's amounts to one step forward and one step back. He sold it for more than what we would have paid, but he's also going to end up paying a lot more for the new card than what we would have paid. Poor Canadians. Their money is so weak right now.
