it will work with both i have an asus ali premium with nforce4 (nvidia chipest) my ati x1900xt works like a charm !

If your planning to go crossfire you will be better with ati, if that is not the case that go with nvidia they pull better banchmark numbers. nForce4 is faster the ati RDX200 Cross-Fire
