I remember when we played games that were 8 bit blocky pixels. You should of seen the art on the boxes for these games, it looked nothing like the game itself. I'm still traumatized to this day from it all.

I just had a flashback to Yars Revenge.

I think they're a waste of resources. Instead of wasting time on a cinamatic trailer, they should put that effort into improving the game.

lying in trailers all started back in the 8bit days as erocker stated. They couldnt help it, they had to promote stuff.

I like cinematic trailers.
They are many times epic and keep people in jobs.
Promoting a product other than with actual footage is done by almost every product manufacturer in the world in all mediums (television, internet, print) and makes the advertisement more interesting.
It's not their fault if some people believe what they see is somehow real.

Problem is companies like Sony. Anyone remember Kill Zone 2? They were passing that CGI BS off as gameplay.

If a trailer is titled as "cinematic" I don't see a problem. If they are trying to pass off a cinematic as actual gameplay then they should definitely be called out on it.

You are assuming marketing teams are honest........having worked in passed marketing I can tell you they make used car salesmen look like Andy Griffith.

Few ears ago I would've voted no, but now it's yes. Many games have unskippable scenes. It's really lame when you die and start from the last checkpoint and you're forced to watch all that crap over and over and over again.

That's an easy fix. Don't die so much.

UNLESS it's the kind of game where you have zero way of knowing what is coming, or if before a difficult bossfight. Or at the very beginning of the game. Again B&W comes to mind..

It's about trailers, not cutscenes/in game movies.

LOL, yes, I was missing that.

In that case, I think it's silly to complain, since the only real way to tell what a game is going to be like as far as previews, is watching gameplay footage demos. If you're watching a lot of cinematic trailers out of anxiety, your bad.

What don't people understand about the word trailers, where talking about marketing trailers like on TV and on game sites not in game cinematic's those are great.

I remember time shift trailer was mostly CGI but the game did play similar to the scene that was shown. I wished they would atleast make a second one.

Yes im sick of them too, but IMO the waiting game will soon be over (I remember HellGate London was one of those hyped scams)

Uhh ok, uh mad bro? I grew up with cinematic trailers with games way back into the early 90's of PC gaming, its part of the fun factor to see awesome cinematics getting you excited and pulling you into the game, thats the idea.

If your sick of em, skip em or get a different hobby I guess.
