PCI-Express slot to M.2 slot conversion isn't rocket-science, especially if all you need is for the M.2 slot to have PCIe wiring (and not SATA). A few weeks ago, SilverStone released the ECM23, which converts a PCI-Express x4 slot to an M.2 M-key slot, and cools your drive via an aluminium heatsink, in addition to link/activity LEDs. The company today released an even simpler device, the ECM25. This is a bare PCB with PCI-Express x4 bus interface, and an M.2-slot. The LEDs of the ECM23 have been reduced a 2-pin LED header. Since there's no heatsink, it doesn't need the physical x16 (although electrical x4) bus interface of the ECM23. You still get a retention stub. The company didn't put out pricing.

Cool, but I don't get what no heat sink has to do with a 16x bus.

It doesn't have an add-on card bracket, so the retention stub adds some stability. The ECM23 has a full x16 interface (although only x4 wired out), because the slot has to bear the weight of even the heatsink.

Just give us a DDR4 DIMM in a PCIE x8 slot caching some type of storage device with it micro SD, HD, M.2, USB stick I don't really care what just make use of PCIE x8 bandwidth and DDR4 DIMM speed.
