SilverStone Intros TP06 PlayStation 5 M.2 NVMe SSD Heatsink and Cover

SilverStone today introduced the TP06, an M.2 NVMe SSD heatsink and cover for the PlayStation 5 system. The heatsink is designed for SSDs in the M.2-2280 form-factor that lack heatsinks, and is shaped to double up as a cover for the M.2 NVMe drive bay of the PlayStation 5. The heatsink is a 67.5 gram chunk of aluminium with a solid surface making contact with the drive, and ridges on the other side that dissipate heat. Besides the heatsink, the package includes a thermal pad, screws tested for compatibility with the PS5, and a screwdriver. The company didn't reveal pricing.

Hm, that's actually pretty smart. The grooves could probably have been directed more towards the fan, but other than that this ought to work well - not least due to it being a pretty hefty chunk of aluminium, so it'll sink a lot of heat.

You know recently I got fed up with my first generation Dell G15 (5587) overheating the SSDs, particularly those which already run hot (Samsungs in my example).

So I cut a 1mm thermal pad to length, cut 16 layers of aluminium foil (I am not joking), stacked them, added another 1mm pad on top to make a sandwich. I kid you not, it gave me a 30°C drop of temps.

Funny that some people think SSDs need this much cooling. It's fine at 60-70°C, actually better than it'd be at 20-30!

This is cool (pun intended ) though several similar product already exist. I do wonder though how precise this type of covers are with their dimensions so that there's proper contact with the SSD bellow

The PS5 really should have been designed like this from the start, I just opted to run mine without the stupid cover that it originally comes with that would only trap heat on the tiny space of the ssd bay.
