A new variant of the Stration worm, which has been plaguing Windows users for the past year, has made the jump from Skype to the ICQ and MSN Messenger networks. For a computer to be infected, a user must first click on a link and then agree to download an executable file. The malicious link is listed below the instant message: "Check this out. Give me your opinion." Once installed, the worm will gradually start to send out messages to the victim's contacts. Although the worm is considered to be a low-risk infection, be careful what you click on these days.

Norton, Kaspersky, Nod32, AVG,... do not cure stupidy.

I think that,
a) Still most problems are caused by lusers.
b) think that it's not 100% their fault since probably nobody taught them a lesson about virus/worms/malware...

People in an office are taught how to use Word, Excel,... but not how to NOT get viruses. ;)

And now, the same reply in "TPU-Power-User"-style:
lol, stupid people

Considering just how dangerous hijacked computers can be these days (used as botnets to take down government/business networks, etc.), this is why I believe you should have to pass some kind of exam to even be allowed to use the Internet.

We make people take an exam before they're allowed to drive a car -- why don't we make people take an exam before they're allowed to gain access to a network wherein their ignorant actions could potentially harm hundreds of thousands of people?

This is true, but how many drunk drivers, idiots on cell phones, accidents, and even deaths do we still have? Plus its easy to drive a car without a license and there are many people that do it.
I think there is no cure for human stupidity (well any rational one that is...)

How many do we still have? A LOT less than we'd have if we didn't have any testing in place at all, buddy.

It's wrong not to apply a solution if it only partly fixes a problem, especially if there's no other solution to speak of.

This is bad for kids. It's not that they're stupid, just ignorant and blissfully unaware of the consequences, they think it's just a link from their friends. You can't blame them that much. I made sure I told the young ones.

That is true, there are a lot less. Enforcement has helped with that, but that kind of enforcement on the internet would require more loss of freedom than I'm willing to give up. Besides sales would be down and expenses would be up.
