Skyrim running really laggy

Hey sorry I'm not sure where to put this,
I just got my pc today and installed skyrim but the game is currently unplayable due to lag and I really want to fix this
I'm on low settings (tried high)
My setup is

Intel core i7 3770K CPU
GeForce gtx 680 4gb graphics card
16gb ddr3 ram
