The animation is annoying. It's not the same as an annoying post from a member.
The whole point of animating the bloody things is to distract you and force you to look at them, as everybody knows. And that's annoying.
On the other hand, give me static ads that interest me and I'm quite likely to click on them.
Then I have to agree with Frick:

I get distracted by a lot of things, but stuff changing on the page doesn't impact by ability to do things. Yeah, it might catch my eye for a second, but once I notice it's an ad, I ignore it.
Do you have to work in silence to be able to concentrate as well, or is it just a visual thing? I know that certain things distract me more than others. Sounds is a lot worse for me than visual queues are.
