Small 2nd Monitor Help

I'm currently using a 24" ASUS (in specs) but am looking to get a 2nd monitor for my AIDA64 sidebar and maybe itunes and aim? I don't have much room at all left on my desk with the HAF X and monitor. What should I get? I've been looking at 7" usb lcds. Are they any good?

Those 7" LCDs are expensive for what you get. For $50 you could get a used 19" flatscreen. Check on craigslist. Not only do you get a better monitor, but it is much cheaper, higher resolution, and does not have the USB lag.

Just an idea but maybe use Maxivista combined with an old (chopped?) laptop? Obviously this isn't rational if you don't have an old laptop but if you do you'd get away at around $50.

Or maybe if you have a PSP lying around you could use PSPdisp. It'd be one tiny monitor though!

dont forget that the USB and VGA monitors dont support HDCP, so they break HD-DVD and blu ray playback.

the USB ones also use a lot of CPU power, so it will not be good while gaming.

I wouldn't use it to watch HD/blu ray. As for CPU power, I only play WoW and I'm using a 3.2ghz hex core, so I have plenty of cpu power to spare. Are there any 7" monitors that use dvi or vga instead of usb?

dealextreme items take time to arrive since they ship from china...

Can't you fit a 4:3 15" monitor on your desk? perhaps put your HAF X on a Case holder on the floor?

remember a 15" 4:3 monitor is almost a square, meaning it is pretty high and pretty narrow, taking less space than a 16:9 monitor. a 15" should be about 12" wide (+bezel)

I, on he other hand, would beware. I've bought ~15 items from them, and out of them 3 were the wrong items. The total worth of both of them weree about 10$ so I didn't bother RMAing or anything though.

TBH, I would buy from them again though

What kind of case holder? I have a 1 year old daughter so crap on the floor usually spells out disaster, but it depends on the case holder I guess.

Why not buy a second monitor like an 17" or 19" & a wall mount...

Or make a shelf on the wall or on the side of your desk & put you case on it?

I would really love to wall mount the case with the side window facing out. The only problem is the case weighs a shit ton and I have no idea what I would need to mount a stable shelf.

I don't know what kind of desk you got & if you got some room on either side of the desk?
but if it is wood & you got a little side room to spare you could always make a little extension of your desk with some plywood & 2x2 or 1x2 for support... maybe?

Blurry as heck (phone camera yay!), but here's how I did it:

I used ratchet straps (are they called that? Image.) to tie it to the thing with the drawers. It's very stable, they are rated for 500kg each (there's two of them).

It makes taking apart the computer a hassle, but it was worth it. More desk space = another monitor.
