Thank you! It was a very interesting reading.

They tested 2070 only against 1080 and Vega 64. They concluded that 2070 is between 4 and 18% faster than 1080 depending of the game (12% on average). We know 1080 Ti is around 30% faster than 1080, so 2070 is closer in performance to 1080 than to 1080 Ti.

Note: The 2070 tested is a MSI Gaming Z with a higher OC than Founders Edition, so performance between Founders and 1080 should be less than 12%.

My guess is TPU will have that later today :)
I just wanted to see the power draw to see if the 2070 or 2080 version will come to laptops. My guess is the 2080 wont make it, but the 2070 will, if the 2070 is only 12% faster, on average, than a 1080, than I wont look into upgrading since my laptop has a 1080.

2080 mobile exists, but you have to replace the whole laptop. So much for the upgrade.

Given that in TPU results 1080Ti is 92% of 2080. 2070 should be 80-85% of 2080. and 1080 is only 68%.

Only 7+nm products are woth the upgrade anyways.

With very few exceptions, upgrading from one generation to the next doesn't make sense. I haven't done that in over a decade.

My takeaway from that article is:
1. Turing really is faster than Pascal, at the same clocks.
2. The gap between AMD and Nvidia just got wider.

If the i9 can make it, the 2080 shouldn't be that big of a deal.

Very interesting read. My conclusions based on those benchmarks are different than those of the reviewer but what should be clear to everyone is that the RTX2070 is a great performance card that makes even the GTX1080 look like a lesser card. My guess is that the the 2070 is likely on par with the 1080ti and might beat it out in some ways.

Great performance on the 2070. About where I expected it to be: above 1080 and below 1080Ti. The 1070 beating a 980Ti was an aberration in what usually happens.

Nvidia should take note that despite HardOCP being on their bad list, the review still says great things about the card.

And with improved drivers over the next few months and it gain on the 1080ti.

So Kyle got his hands early enough on a 2070, did none in the world get their retail 9900k, on preorder, by now

By the time it surpasses Ti, 30 or 40-series may show up with 50% power consumption reduction.

Well it surpasses it now in Wolfenstein/Vulkan for sure.

This thread is about the RTX2070, not the i9. Quit trying to derail the thread.

Exactly. I think the whining about performance not being worth the price might have been a tad premature.

at $599 it is not worth. should be $330 like GTX 970. Im even willing to pay a total of 399$ for the extra 4.5GB and RTRT.

Not so sure, as that would possibly hurt 1080ti sales. Once those are "out of the way" then these cards might actually gain on them. Until such time, i expect when the 2070 gains performance via drivers, so will the 1080ti.

Obviously, only a small portion of those in the link are 1080ti cards, but nVidia still needs to "get rid of them" so, and until such time, i expect nVidia to have a "clear separation" in performance and price.

I also expect the 2060 and 2050 cards to have their performance and prices arranged in a similar fashion when those come out and have performance improvements "behave" in much the same way when compared to the 10 series cards they'll be "competing" with.

Yeah. That was discussed a few weeks ago in another thread. Looks like I was wrong. I didn't think NVidia would shoot themselves in the foot like that.

Isn't SLI/Crossfire supposed to be superseded by DX12/Vulkan mGPU? (And yes, I know mGPU is MIA, I'm just saying, that's the plan)

They make more money selling one 2080ti then two 2070s.

Add to that the lack of necessity to have driver compatibility for games with SLI for such cards and that means less man hours work with drivers which in turn mean more money ...

Nice review, I look forward to seeing how it stacks up again a 1080 Ti and how much the likes of EVGA, MSI, Asus charge for their aftermarket cards... If they have cut SLI off of these cards then it will be a shame for those who like to use it or just use it.. As I've said before, all the space in some of the cases and builds we see having multiple cards they'd look so daft with only a single card... That and it was a great way to get $1200+ cards from $200 or so cards.. Then I know you might argue why not just buy a big card but some people like to be awkward... lol :)

Well that gtx1080 ain't reference either. So overclocked custom models comparison, which should somewhat square the performance parity between the two.

gtx1060 has 106 chip, this one has 106 chip, maybe rtx xx70 get's sli capability back when/if it moves back to 104 chip.
