So how do you make a clip with sound?

I see it all the time yet I still do not know how to do it. I have movie files and media files how do I make "Clips" from various parts I like? I have windows movie maker 2.6 and I can get the video just no audio from the thing!

I use virtualdub its free. Its kinda old so there are probably better ways

If you only wish to cut out parts you wish to omit and/or transcode, Avidemux might be worth a try. I do not now whether you will find it easy or not, that is subjective and therefore hard to assess for me.

If you wish to do things like adding titles etc. I cannot give any recommendation of (free) programs for Windows.

Its not bad but there is a learning curve. Im sure there are videos for it on youtube

Yeah also looks like it is beyond my range at this time. I need some thing that can clip and save and then be played. How hard is that? Movie maker gets the video part not the audio and that is what is killing me!

Use VLC

Open VLC and go to "View" and check "Advanced Controls"
You will see the Advanced Controls on the bottom left in VLC. It has "Record", "Snapshot", "loop" and "Frame by Frame". Use "Frame by Frame" to select where you want to begin.
Once you've found where you want to begin, then press "Record" and then play. When you are done recording, press "Record" again to stop. VLC places the video/clip in your "My Videos" library.
