So how long did you get from your last mouse?

My Logitech G600 has recently started developing that seemingly inevitable double-clicking issue. You know, the one where you click once but it registers as two rapid clicks. Apparently Logitech's mice are infamous for this problem (my old G5 suffered from the same fate) and my recent indulgence in Diablo-clones didn't help matters. I've had the mouse for about 5 years now and plan on opening it up in an attempt to fix it.

Anyway, inspired by a recent thread, I'd like to ask the fine folks here at TPU how long their mice last. Info on model and usage level would be nice too.

I would get a lot more out my keyboards and mice if I didn't beat then into dust when windows freezes or some game fails to run (Bioshock2) LOL. I get mine from goodwill and they last as long as I don't smash them. About 2-3 years.

generally 1 year (except for my Diablo3 Steelseries Sensei') they lasted years (3 or more).

when i was a younger man, with less refined tastes, i used any old mouse.....belive it or not, i only JUST threw out my old trackball mouse circa 1997 iirc god i loved that mouse.

Had a Razer Mamba 2012 4G wireless for just under 2 years (November 2014 -> October 2016) then the battery expanded and caused the battery door - on the bottom of the mouse - to catch on the mouse mat. I used it for probably about 3 - 5 hours a day over that time. Sent it in to my retail store and they replaced it with a new one (Razer Mamba TE) which still works to this day.

Still have a Microsoft Sidewinder X8 which I used as my main mouse for about 2-3 years with no problems - again still works to this day though the magnetic charger is stopped working so I charge my AA battery in a wall socket charger. My current G403 wireless has been going strong for one year and I use it at work too ( in total about 6 - 10 hours a day).

I still have a four year old Logitech M705 that's still going on strong, though Diablo 3 may end up killing it.

I use 2 on my main PC, a G700s and a Stealseries Wireless, the G700sfailed in a odd button issue which Logitech replaced and had no issue's over the passed year with it, The stealseries was a replacement of 2 other Stealseries mice and other than the connecor on the base has been flawless.

Mice who ever they are from tend to not last over 14 months, worsted i have had has to be razer mice and after 4 different ones and 2 of their keyboards i will never buy another until i can be convinced shit has changed.

I should not forget the mini mice that Logitech do too like the M series ?, currently M185 i believe and been good mice for none gaming.

Going on 2 years with a Logitech G300s and generally go about 2 years on a mouse before getting something else.

My oldest mouse is a Logitech Mouseman Wheel Optical that I bought in 2000-2001.... still works ok and I have it hooked up to my 4P Opteron server atm.

I've personally never understood what the big draw is to their products. I've had a couple of their mice ,one of their keyboards, and I had several of their headsets, all of which were utter trash. In my opinion they are devices that console gamers think are good because theyve never had anything better. Kind of like someone who eats McDonald's every day and thinks it's the best thing in the world ,because they've never had anything else.

Razer is either not what they were to gain theyre reputation, or it was all fake feedback/buzz, or users with little exp.

of course I'm not going to speak on their top-tier items ,because just about every company (including the terrible ones) have $200 and $300 high-end models of everything ,that tend to be at least passable , I'm speaking mostly of the mid to high mid tier stuff, The stuff the nine out of 10 people are going to buy.

2 years before its scroll-wheel gave out (middle-click wouldn't work, it wouldn't precisely scroll). I think they really need to work on making scroll-wheels and middle-click buttons as durable as the main buttons.

Now using Logitech, so far its working fine for a year and still counting.

Previously, several Razer mice, all failed after 1-2 years.

Frame it, seriusly frame it, as the oldest Razer product, of course just kidding.

I think half the time it's down to what game's people are playing too, although FPS games with razer i expect to be replacing it with in 9 months.

HAHA Mc Donalds, only like my own home made ones. Although fish'n'chips is were the good eating is in the UK, this part of the country in the US food sucks unless you can afford shit like $28 1lb cheese lol.

I've had a Logitech G500 in my main rig for 4 years now, been using it daily, no noticeable deterioration or performance. This is my favorite mouse of all time, however:

The MX-518 coating is worn, it is on its 3rd set of feet, but optical sensor and clicks are still going strong. Logitech even keeps it current as far as drivers and software. One of the best mice ever!

Got my G400s at 05/2014 and still works like brand new, though the surface has seen a lot of use.

Yup, 2005. I also had a MX518 and it was awesome! G400/G400s is basically an improved MX518.

Had a G500 for 3 years. The switch went bad or maybe dirty. Bought a G500s Hated it, the switches were cheap, bought a G502 on 8/6/14. The G502 has been flawless still

Most of them last between a year and two, they were $30 mice tho. G403 wireless is the first premium one I bought, so I expect to keep it longer.

At least a new mouse every month for me. I'v tried most of the mice on the market. Just take the mice I don't like and throw them in a bin. I keep the best mouse for my main rig and other mice I like are used on some of my testing rigs.

I have a generic 2400dpi mouse, a gift from a friend, had the double-click problem. I disassembled it and fixed the problem by setting the clicking metal bar straight again (it's a PITA to re-assemble the click mechanism for the first time). Took some tries, but right now is as good as new.

I have an old as MS Inteli mouse 3.0 that still works and I use it often as a back up if needed also a couple of still working wireless mice from MS lately though I have an Logitech G402 Hyperion Fury which has done me a couple of years so far everything looks and feels like it should

Sharkoon Shark Force, going strong for 3 years, suffers daily on Dota2 and CoD4. Also using Microsoft WMO 1.1, god knows how long that lasts.

I don't get all these great experiences with Logitech mice ... because every Logitech mouse I ever had, has been replaced due to double clicking issue.

Most Logitech mouses were put aside for unprecise mousebutton behaviour. Then most 'rubber' finish mouses, for getting sticky.

So far the best mouses (ergonomics, finish and durability): RAT 7 and RAT ProX. 1st is 5 years old, 2nd over 1 year, and they age very well.

PD: I also have the RAT1, price was 10 € , bought it just for the looks. Must be the lightest mouse EVER! But it is a little unprecise for FPS games. Plastics are also top notch.

$h1t, I'm still rocking a G5.

Though, I did some extensive maintenance on my G5, including new LMB, new MMB, lens cleaning, fresh lube on optical scroll, new braided USB cable, and ofcourse a new vinyl skin on top of the worn-off factory surface...
Even did a little worklog here on TPU for some parts of that process.

I wanted to retire it in December in favor of A4Tech Bloody TL70, but I guess I am way too attached to this rodent.
Also have a fully functional beige Logitech PS/2 mouse (from early 2000s) in the office with those cool heavy/clicky Omron switches.
