Oh for f sakes NO! My pretty much main supplier up here. I'll be reduced to ebay and even worse newegg. In Canada, that's death, and much more than taxes....
Also upset because I've spent over 20k for myself and others over the years, that I know would have costed 1000s more at those other places. This sucks.

He's fine ,really but... meh. My humor isn't for everyone.

Eh, I think Linus is overrated. He is making the big bucks though, so more power to him. He couldn't even apply thermal paste right in his most recent AMD Threadripper video, so sad I have more skill than him in just about every aspect of PC building (including most of us here on this forum I am assuming). Such is the nature of life.

Eh, I think Linus is overrated.

Honestly, if whatever he does helps sell stuff, I don't care. I like a laugh, and he provides me with many. I honestly think he does a lot as satire but everyone misses it. If that's a fluke, well... that'd be sad. o_O

I stopped using NCIX many years ago because Memory Express opened up local, and had good part selection right on the shelf. Memory Express has expanded a lot recently, so I think they have taken a good portion of NCIX's business; I mean, that easily explains their success and NCIX's downfall. Personally, I preferred NCIX's customer service over Memory Express, but I do also like buying my stuff in person more so this news doesn't come as much of a surprise.

I agree. I actually enjoy watching his videos, but not because I'm taking them as serious technical videos. They do stupid shit. I like to watch Motor Trend's Roadkill too. They are serious car guys, doing dumb shit with cards, and it is entertaining. But I'm not going to watch those videos and expect to figure out how to change my oil from them.

So far, the only affect of the retail locations. The online business is still functioning, but we don't know for how long.

I guess we need to change that to TWO could hope.

I know I'm not the most politically correct person (not by a damn long stretch) but for the longest time, I genuinely thought he was a tiny, little(angry/excitable lady...(i swear to god i did) obviously it turned out i was wrong(yet again)... now, i know he's actually just a very tiny little squeaky man-boy.....he's essentially the real-life version of what the cartoon "South Park" portrays Canadians to be:laugh:.

I saw him doing a review (or something) on a video card (if I recall correctly it was an HD6950) it looked like he was holding a goddamn cinderblock, I know it doesn't matter that he's small & squeaky voiced, but I have trouble trusting someone like that. I feel like he's up to something, other than spamming YouTube subscribers for likes.....

I was listening to him on his WAN show (i download it as a podcast) and he goes pretty in depth to as why he left NCIX and about why he wasnt surprised they were bankrupt.... What it boils down to generally is bad management decisions and failure to stay one step ahead of their competitors especially when it came to logistics. I think Linus mentioned that many competitors were adopting a 'click n' collect' option but NCIX for some reason didnt do this and were charging customers $30-50 to have big items like PC cases shipped to them when they could have gone and picked their items up at any branch of NCIX local to them.

In the end The competitors were cheaper in that respect and that was one of the reasons that lead to NCIX's downfall.

I used to be subbed to NCIX's YT channel and the writing on the wall was pretty clear that they were slowly going under as staff kept coming and going

That wasn't humor, just an expression of hope. All well and proper. EDIT: And if you consider that "humor" I can see how you find him funny.

As for the store, never heard of them, speaking as a european.

That's a shame for you. I've heard a lot of people in metro Vancouver rent a box at the UPS store in Blaine or Point Roberts and drive down to pick up packages from US e-tailers shipped there. If you live a good distance from the border that's not feasible.

Never set foot in a retail store of theirs, but I have purchased a few items online from them. Had the best price for my Fractal Design Arc XL tower when it was on sale.

Funny thing is, I didn't have the cash to buy the case when it was on sale. When I did have the money a week or so later, the case was no longer on sale, but the price was almost $20 cheaper.

Yeah they're both the same store. Their stores are in Canada but they do have the US based shipping center. And to be honest I'm surprised it took this long for them to go bankrupt. They turn around for an example sell a video card for 300 US dollars to the Americans. The same store sells to the Canadiens at 500 plus dollars.. they like to cater to the other country rather than their own so Kudos NCIX and good riddance.

Bankrupt doesn't mean out of business. They have closed all of their brick and mortar stores for now, but who knows what the future holds. They will either restructure(possibly to online only), or they will get bought up by another company, or they'll close completely. We don't know what will happen yet.
