I have Sony PS3 Slim. Worth it or not for PS3 exclusives or should i wait for working games in PS3 emulator?

There is no emulation yet that beats actual hardware

Benchmark Scores Turns on on the first try! Usually.
One good thing about consoles is that they will always be able to run the games they are supposed to so I'd say it's worth it, as long as you can get games at reasonable prices, and the PS3 library has some great games.

it's actually closer than you think. sonic runs better on hardware that doesn't exist yet (5ghz (all core?) 8700K)

and you can run games at 4K with little speed penalty compared to native res

hell, i was able to run Ni No Kuni at what felt close to "PS3 framerates" on an i7-4790 + 1060 3GB

Heh.. Remember when the Cell processor made it illegal to ship the PS3 to some countries like Iran? It really wasn't very long ago. 10 years or so?

I'd still keep my PS3 personally because it's the original model, with the PS2/emotion engine chip. The only thing better than the PS3's library is the PS2's.

Benchmark Scores Don't know any benchmark. It runs good enough for me.
I recommend get the PS3 when they are still around. Get a few of it if you can when they are still available and working now. You may need a few as one of them may fail over time. They would be harder to get by over time as they get rarer and before scalpers are asking for a high price for it. Ps3 emulation is making progress but it is no where near PS3 performance without insanely high clocking cpu hardware. Even if they are making good progress full compatibility is still far away. Even for PCSX2, ps2 emulator which made excellent progress over 10 years is not really fully compatible with all games though in terms of speed many games are massively playable.

Get the physical games as much as you can, I have been wanting to do that but I don't have the space and money to that fully. There tons of good game for the PS3 still. Get the slim PS3 if you can rather than the earlier "fat" version. They are much more reliable less prone to overheating with smaller nm cell chips and better laser quality. The slim one with the slot loading drive rather than the cheaper slide tray one.

Edit: @StrayKAT When the cell came out in 2005 it was a revolution, it was such an amazing leap in Cpu performance. We are still running on a pentium 4 on deskstop and early duo core cpu just starting coming out with lower clockspeed of 1.8GHz or. I remember hearing the cell clockspeed of 3.2GHz for all 8 cores to be like an alien technology. It is not a normal cpu with one general purpose core with 6 specialist core. It was amazing. I never quite get as much wow nowadays unlike those days for newer technology now. Each jump then feels so huge.

I wish Sony still make the PS3 with modern process like the current 14nm. I think it would still have a great niche. Full hardware compatibility without emulation in a small form factor. I am sure they can make the PS3 in form factor of a small dvd player or even an external usb cd drive with current technology. Better than all the nes classic crap with little games compatibility that nintendo is doing now. Just my pipe dream, hell I wish ps2 emotion engine and hardware is done on the 14nm process.

Definitely grab a PS3. Just be wary of broken BT lenses because its a known fault in the early versions. I have two fat PS3's right here, both still work, but one had a lens replacement and it never went back to perfect operation. Sadly its also the one with the best backwards compatibility, but, luckily, we have PCSX2 ;)

Never heard of the BT problem. So far, so good. Does anything trigger the faultiness.. or it just screws up on it's own?

It was a thing - and still is

Basically: Sony used a not-so-great (soft) material to make the Bluray lens and it tends to get dusty or scratch up a bit, causing read errors and forcing either a thorough clean (with no guarantees) or a replacement kit such as the above. Said BT, not sure why, meant BR :D The early PS3s suffered from this and I believe they corrected it with the Slim and possibly also the later fat PS3 models (the ones without emulator hardware).

I'd still keep a PS3 around. They all run ps1 games, which is nice, but believe it or not most ps3s can also run most ps2 games just fine (after jailbreaking). The jailbreak also allows you to install your games to the hard drive, which is a nice bonus.

Oh.. Blu-ray. Doh. I somehow read Bluetooth. Still, good to know.
