No need to worry about the SB. P45 is the way to go if you want a good board for you Q6600. Asus seems nice, there's an entire thread devoted to Asus P45's here: http://forums.techpowerup.com/showthread.php?t=89468

G35 is older and hasonboard graphics
P35 is older
G45 hasonboard graphics and replaced the G35's
P45 replaced the P35

They have everything to do with RAM and CPU settings but nothing changes the fact P45 is the best LGA775 chipset.

except for X48's :p. Get a P45 dude, and tell me how it goes. the days till my paycheck seem to take forever cause i'm either buying a P45 to overclock my CPU mroe, or purchase an HD 4890, leaning towards the card. but none the less i'm after a P45 after i purchase the card, so if you get good results with a board it'll help me decide which i want :).(lookin at Gigabyte UD3R)

i heard ok things about the ud3r something about esata and some other stuff but i'm way off still i'm still new to this era.

yeah i think a p45 will be the best bang outta my bucks. although i'm still lookin maybe p5q delux?

i think imma pick up a set of ram and a vga card and have my parents pick up my psu. its not a bad idea but its stretching thin on how much money i have :/

a_ump,
P45 > X48.
X48 is a speed binned X38, the exact same silicon, and it doesn't scale in FSB with quads anywhere near as well as P45.

are your parents really computer savy? i won't diss them as i don't know them but post what will be in your system here and we'll be sure to show you the best bang for buck/fits your needs PSU :toast:

holy shizzle nuts. that's like unreal haha i had no idea, i thought x48 was a new chipset just like P45, and i didn't know that P45's were better with FSB than x48's. thanks...i'm still like  for just now finding this out

i juss ask them for money and try to buy the rest with my own.

although this is was what i was thinkin so far. single vga card.

q6600 w/ s1280 cooler or whatever i can't think of right now
xfx 780i or p5q delux
corsair 850tx
2x2 gb of ddr3-1066 whatever fits the board for now
either a 8800gtx or a 250 or at least an 8800.

so far i have cpu and hsf.

no boarrd still lookin for around 100-150 shipped. building up money for that

psu - 75 parents can probably get that for me.

vga - if xazax responds and i get another deal down around here and other forums. if i get two i'm broke if i get 1 i can save enuff money for ram but idk yet

ram- meh?

may i ask your budget?

also, why get the GTS 250, when the cheapest i found on newegg is $124, and the cheapest HD 4870 is $129 w/free shipping so it'd actually be cheaper than the GTS 250 and is about 9-11% faster depending on the resolution. I defnitely vote against the 780i, i heard the 750i's are better if your not gonna go Tri-SLI. also DDR3 1066 is usually more expensive from what i see on newegg than DDR3 1333 so there's no reason not to get DDR3 1333. give us your budget and we can help ensure you pick the best parts for your build.

well psu parents are getting for 75 dollars.

vga so far i can get an 8800 for 70 shipped from some user and one xazax for 85 shipped.

board trying to spend 100-150.

ram maybe 40-50 max for a 2x2gb set of some ddr3's hopefully

but overall if i can get everything really off me i can get this p45 setup runnin hopefully by the end of next week if everything works out well

unless you can find something locally this is the best i could find ram and PSU wise on newegg

2x2gb DDR3 1066
Raidmax 500watt 80%+ certified
Gigabyte P45 UD3R

what 8800 is it? GTS G92, GTX?

now if your willing since the mobo is only $119 free shipping, you could get put the 30 bucks saved towards a better PSU or memory. If its a 8800GTX, then i'd opt for a better PSU, esp since i'm assuming your going to overclock your q6600. side note, get the xiggy s1283, not s1284.

well whats the difference between the gtx and gts g92 core. gtx don't have 92 cores?

xazax was at gtx 768mb. no idea core or whatnot but check out his thread in his fs.

the other one was a gts 8800 probably g92 core.

thanks for the ram but i think my psu will do me well too don't ya think. corsair 850tx psu.

imma check out the mobo's: checked

i like that board. lot of sata ports up to 3gbs per channel. i dont like the ram slots though 16gbs of ddr2 i rather have a maximum capacity of ddr3 leading up more than 8gbs.

i didn't know you'd found a coresair 850 watt for $75 or less...i'd love to see the link to that unless its a local deal. and yea you'll need the PSU if your getting the GTX(though i'd get the GTS G92).

G92 is the GPU that's used. 8800GTX is G80, just a different core but it takes more power to run it than the G92 cards do. Also the GTS is about even with the GTX in most reviews online, but since the G92 cards release(8800GT, 8800GTS 512mb) Nvidia has polished and improved drivers for the G92's so the GTS's performance is probly above the GTX's now.
