I have 3 HDDs in RAID-5 that runs at about 150mb/s and can do maybe 60 IOPS where I have two SSDs in RAID-0 and it will top out at 1gb/s with over 60-80k IOPS. You do notice a difference, but anything above what SATA6 can do (any SSD RAID,) is really unnecessary and unless your copying huge files you won't notice the extra performance on RAID. However for SSDs by themselves, the improvement is staggering.

If your priority is capacity and price, go with the hard drive.

If your priority is performance, go with the SSD.
