SSD Health Concerns

Hello. My PC is new but there seems to be an issue with the SSD. After running CrystalDiskMark more than a dozen times, I noticed that my drive health was impacted. Specifically, after a full benchmark with the "test count" option set to 9, the drive's health decreased to 99%. I quickly attempted to open Chrome only to be greeted with terrible red and black visual artifacts within the browser window. I am also concerned about the low random Q1 write speeds. I would appreciated any bit of help you can provide. Thank you.

PC Specs:

Intel Core i7-10700

32 GB G.SKILL Ripjaws V Series @2933 MHz

ASUS TUF Gaming Z490-Plus

Samsung 860 EVO SATA 500GB

Fractal Design Define R6 USB-C

Fractal Design Ion+ 660W Platinum

Specifically, after a full benchmark with the "test count" option set to 9, the drive's health decreased to 99%.

You wrote 40GB to the drive, SSDs have a limited amount of writes, of course the drive health would go down.

I quickly attempted to open Chrome only to be greeted with terrible red and black visual artifacts within the browser window.

This is more likely a graphical glitch than anything to do with the SSD.

I am also concerned about the low random Q1 write speeds

Those are actually pretty good write speeds for 4kq1t1 on a SATA drive.

and I agree with 'Teckie: Rad and Black artifacts at 99% of a drive's health likely have absolutely nothing to do with your drive's health, and everything to do with a browser or site hiccup. Did you test on other sites? Did you reboot? Did the problem reoccur?>

I just installed Samsung Magician and saw that the firmware is already updated. Everything came back clear from a couple of diagnostic tests within the app.

The artifacts appeared only once when I opened an empty/new instance of Google Chrome. I could not reproduce this result after I rebooted Chrome.

Is hardware acceleration on for Chrome?
If so turn it off.

Hi,
I wouldn't worry about it then CDM is really just good for read/ write... speed test just for grins.
I've never used that version just an older one.
