You know that ding when a hardware change is detected by Windows? Like when you unplug/plug a pendrive?
I'm getting this now, when I start Steam and it affects my new Corsair H100i RGB Platinum, where the LEDs go off and on about six times during a few minutes whilst Steam is running.
When I close Steam, the behaviour goes away. It's not affecting any H100i performance, but it's a nag I could do without.
Any ideas?

Report it to steam and their forum.

Check the steam settings and windows audio settings.

Steam is a data harvester in case people forgot that's how they got so rich.

Everytime you launch it will do a full device scan.

Set it to boot with windows to avoid this issue.

If you're worried about your "data" getting harvested, you should not use a computer.

Banal comments aside, I'll raise it at the Steam and Corsair forums.
Thanks for the feedback.
Edit:
I forgot to mention that this never happened with the H100i V1.0.

This seems like odd behavior to me. My h150i doesn't do this when launching steam I have pretty much everything in steam and on windows set to default.

Steam does not harvest anything, at least for me I firewall any process not related to game launching, same thing with blizzard system survey, once I firewall it -it just closes. You do realize such assumptions are against the user license agreement and steam would never "crawl" behind your back. No need to get paranoid.

I would surmise it has to do with the hardware SDK that is being used and Steam's scan is causing it to detach.

As a temporary fix, I've set the RGB to a static colour and the behaviour has ceased, until they come up with a fix.
I've also asked to partake in the beta version of iCUE v3.15 , which apparently fixes the problem.

I would remove icue and use the latest version of corsair link, a bit more mature and stable. Also it does not need to run in the background, you may set the service to manual.

No thank you.
Are you aware that many games require you to be online to play?
iCUE controls the lighting on both my Corsair Strafe RGB keyboard and the H100i RGB, so disabling it is very inconvenient, more so with the keyboard, because the RGB function stops without iCUE.
I'm not terribly concerned anyway, since I have a temporary fix.

iCUE 3.15.95 beta has solved the disconnect problem for me, so if anyone else has this problem, go to the Corsair forum and PM James at Corsair for access to the beta.
He was very helpful, replied in a couple of days and granted me access to the beta download.
