Hello I just saw the steam hardware survey and the results are quite interesting. Just posting this for those who care.

Interesting read. I can't believe how popular nVidia is compared to ATi with Steam users. I was expecting something closer to a 60/40.

Not surprising.

Intel is on top right now and so is Nvidia, also most people have adapted dual cores but has not fully moved on to four cores.

Some of the bottom stuff is interesting.

They sold a lot of 8800 series cards. I was suprised to see so many using DX10 hardware but then again and once again a lot of people bought 8800 series cards.

AMD's CPU numbers should actually be lower if it were reflecting real market share, I think.

Probably a holdover from the Athlon x2 days.|

As for ATI cards, it's unsurprising. As mentioned, the 8k series was a smash hit, no two ways about it.

Most people are still probably using their 8800gt cards still. Also AMD may be making a small come back right now but for a while intel pretty much owned the market. Their e6xxx C2D were pretty dang popular a year or two ago.

yeah i think the 8800gt is still popular and even tho ati is making a come back a lot of steam users will have older cards in there systems because it dosnt take a lot to run steam games

intel will dominate but there maybe a lot of phenom 2 and x2s kicking around

Intresting to note that 58% of steam users actually have a DX10 card yet 30% stick on winxp.

EDIT: a lot of the older pcs that have older hardware will use xp

agreed. I can't stand using windows xp anymore. I like vista way more!

What I read is that 58.57% are using XP. Furthermore, Win7 has +.56% while vista only has +.46%. The funny part is that Win7 isn't even released yet.

yeah i dont like xp anymore it is kinda old now, im starting to get back into linux again i dunno how many dedicated servers use linux on steam

EDIT: people are going to get a shock when win7 beta finishes oh look times ran out and you have to pay for it now LOL
