Are they slow for anybody else today? I've been trying since 12pm to get left 4 dead and tf2 updated and they are downloading at 50kb when my www will do 2.0mb

I just got done downloading a tomb raider game on there and it took me 6 tries to download it because the servers were to busy. Once I connected though, it was 700kbps minimum speed.

Getting 800KB/s, which is lower than my usual speed of 1.6MB/s.

Yeah lol. Just cause people buy gifts through steam for Christmas doesn't automatically make Steam = Fail.

Its like saying All Stores = Fail just because of the Long Lines that build up for the holidays. Same thing...

Meh. I voted slow even though I am getting around 500kb/s. It normally is around minimum 1mb for me. Max 3mb

I'll be patient though since Steam has a lot of people downloading their AMAZING deals. And of course, Steam is one of THE best gaming companies out there. ^_^

We just need to be patient

We are getting great prices and a lot of people are taking advantage of the great prices. If anybody should be bitching it should be me. Not only am I getting bad downloads of 500k or less when I usually get as high as 3mb/sec or more but I am going to be snowed in with a blizzard tommorrow with bad download speeds when I could be playing all the games I just bought.

My top dl speed is 200kb, so all y'all stop your whining. :laugh:

Steam servers are always slow during the holiday sale. Go spend time with the fam; your download will be done later. :roll:

considering that the developer gets a cut off each sale and they are selling games mad cheap for xmas i dont think thats a realistic possibility.

Well, I imagine they are selling more a million games. Even making a dollar from each game(hell 50cent) they can afford a new server or two. I could be crazy, idk.

you could be. considering the company is trying to make a profit and not a lose on each game to pay the technicians to pay the system admins to pay the networkers and to actually buy the mainframe which is far more expensive then any WTF sweet server we see built on TPU. not to mention the salary of the team involved to make a new server happen is probably higher then mine or yours combined.

Monkey Island pack was downloading at 15KB/s yesterday and one keep on pausing itself, but today they are both going down at 450+ KB/s totaling over 900KB/s so it's going pretty fast. As usual. It's slow just on these massive sales when ppl are downloading more.
