I know about Throttlestop but it's not working on my setup, or I just don't know what settings to use. I have an Inspiron N5110 with i5-2410M clocking max at 2.3GHz. Right now I have an issue with my power jack... not charging the battery but works sort of on AC alone and works normally on battery alone. With battery in and AC connected, my clock speed drops to 800MHz max. Battery alone, max out at 2.3GHz. Win7, not a power user but I'd like the machine to operate normally. I've played with Throttlestop settings and can't seem to go above 800MHz. Am I stuck at turtle speed until the new DC power jack comes in, or what else should I consider?? Much thanks...

Have you checked Windows power settings?

Have you checked Windows power settings?
Sorry - yes, I have Win power settings maxed out for performance. Advanced settings at 100% across the board. Also called Dell and of course they were no help. Basically "it is what it is." Now I expect some intelligent engineer somewhere has solved this, and I hope to benefit from their knowledge. :-)

Try a linux live, see if make same, maybe it is from some power option from windows...

Can you post a screenshot of how you have ThrottleStop set up?

Your problem sounds like it is BD PROCHOT related. Have you unchecked that box in ThrottleStop yet?

This is a signal path that allows other items on your motherboard or your power adapter to send a signal to your CPU to tell it to start throttling. The CPU responds by dropping down to 800 MHz just as if it had reached the thermal throttling temperature even though the CPU is not hot at all. Unchecking that box disables the signal path so the CPU can ignore these signals and run at full speed. Disabling BD PROCHOT will not prevent the CPU from throttling if it gets too hot so your CPU will still be able to throttle if there is a legitimate reason to do so.

Hope this info helps.

stupid dell chargers have a stupid chip in them and so does the lap top, and if they cant talk together it wont charge and wont work at full speed..
probably best to check if some one elses charger works on your laptop. maybe the dumb chip in the laptop is fried.
nothing to do with the app your using, but id recommend fixing the issue not working around it.
