Storing GPU for long time, tips ?

Hi,
So atlast my HDD has finally died and now i'm left with a 120gb one.

120Gb is useless for gaming and other purposes and i wont be using it as after loosing all my data i don't to experience it again.
So now I'll use my pc just for documents and browsing, which means my PC's integrated graphics are strong enough to handle it.

Which leaves my GPU useless, i want to put it away some where in my store room. Any tips you guys have for me and how long will it last in storage ?

Just keep it dry and at room temperature. If you have the original box and packing, put it in that. There's really no harm in using it though.

Do you have those anti-static (gray) bag? Put it in and put it away. I have few ancient GPUs that are over 10 years old that still work.

Box and Anti-Static bag, as Frick says at room temperature, should keep good forever

Maybe put some of those small silicon bags, that suck up moisture too.

Try and get a big enough rad ,silver type bag,and a silica gel pack that in a box is ideal in a home

if i dont have the anti static bag i just wrap it in aluminum foil. then put it somewhere dry(ish) with reasonable temps. say >45F <140F.

have an old gforce 8400 PCI (not pcie) card from 2007 i use for troubleshooting/flashing. still works as of 6 months ago when i last used it.

I had a Voodoo3 from 1998 I just sold a few weeks ago that sat in the plastic clamshell it came in for many many years. I tested it before I sold it and it worked perfectly.

Best to put it in an antistatic bag, you can buy them cheap on ebay.

Fridge is the second from last place to Store a Graphics Card ( it will suck up condensation and suffer water Damage )
Last place to store it would be your dustbin

My suggestion, the bank. In other words, sell the card, take the money and put it in the bank. When you are ready for a GPU, use the money and buy one. You'll probably get a better GPU than what you had.

Im in grade 12 and trying my very best to get into a good school, the computer was kind of interfering with my studies now that the games contaning HDD is gone, im using my PC just for educational purposes !

In four or five years you will think about this decision as one of the best ones in your life, I reckon.

Couple of things here.

120GB can most certainly be used for storing your OS and a game or two so. You just have to be careful to ensure it doesn't get full of other crap like temp files. When you've finished a game, uninstall it and install the next one. It's a pain, but certainly not useless. Hard discs are really cheap nowadays, so it I'd say buying another one is the best option. You can even go SSD if you can get a decent 256GB one for a good price (I suspect you're tight for money). That will have plenty of room.

As far as losing your data, it only happened because you didn't have a backup and it's guaranteed to at some point due to various reasons. Buy another HDD just for data and use a free backup utility to keep the backup up to date. I use Karen's Replicator. Cloud backups may be another solution, but they really do depend on the speed of your internet connection and carry a subscription fee.
