It all started when I increased my anti-aliasing in ccc. I started playing l4d then all of a sudden my computer hangs and my display shows a bright red at top then it gets gradually black as it goes down vertical. Afterwords resetting my computer, I change settings back to what they were. I launched left 4 dead again then started playing. This time my entire display goes completely black. Again I restart the computer. This time im not actually playing anything, I was going to this website when all of a sudden the computer locks up and the screen shows stripped lines going down black and white. This time I turned my computer off for a few seconds and then turned it on. So far I have not experienced any hanging of some sort. I have only experienced this problem when I was trying to run my ddr2 ram at 1066 which i ultimately had problems with. Right now my ram is at 800mhz. During my previous ordeal I did a memtest86, my ram had no errors after several passes. I'm currently wondering if it is either my cpu, video card, or powersupply. The reason I put my cpu as a reason is because the first time I ever had a problem is when I got the cpu. Not only that but I also had the video card a couple of months before installing the cpu without problems. Powersupply could be a potential problem because, well its not great and it is kind of no-name brandish and powering my computer off seemed to do something. I also noticed that my power supply seems to be sucking in a lot of hot air directly from the cpu and doing a terribly poor job at removing it, which I observed by feeling the metal of the power supply. Which leads me to believe that the case is the problem.
Can someone please help me solve the problem?
Also im sure people are going to want to know what display driver version I am using. I think it is 10.1, I just got them updated today from 9.something.
At the time of the crash my cpu was at
123.8F 51C
and my video card was at around
123.8F 51C - Normally at 113F 42C
Im not sure if I can reproduce the problem. It seems to be running normal now.
I normally do Celsius but I figured the majority did Fahrenheit.
