Strange Firefox glitch (in XP only?) with wallpaper

Hey All,

So i was using a compy in the lab today, and of course since the school is cheap they are still running XP and the ugly fisher price UI.

Anyway, if you notice in this screenshot, there seems to be a tearing of the window, in this case, firefox, where the wallpaper seeps through.

I want to think this is just a bad buildup of resource management, but, I'm curious if anyone else has seen this.

Not a major issue, just humorous. :nutkick:

Thanks for any strange suggestions, or oddly, a solution??? Eh, its silly whichever.

UPDATE: Now its doing it in Photoshop???

WTF mate. I want to say this is an error with RAM cache. But...RAM problems are generally more than outside a glitchy picture.

Now, possibly GPU? I want to lean more towards this, but, then agian, the problem with this is that GPU does not interface with the UI like Vista/Win7 do.

You updated the drivers on the card or overclocking it?

I would try takin about the video card and re set it... or try a different video card

i dont think so it would do it on the desktop as well if that was the case and if im not mistaken im going to bank that it wouldnt be white and black everytime....though i have to say the color choice is odd given they are extreme opposites. have you tried reboot the system? Besides if the screen was going a screenshot wouldnt work.

Is this more common in video cards? I was not sure if GPU could affect XP explorer windows as much as the ones in Vista. I could be wrong though.

If it were a video card though, I would imagine that more would be happening, like tearing in videos, blue screens, ect.

Could though this be an issue? The GPU is an 8600GT btw. Ill run a driver scan to make sure they are not outdated.

It is a video issue that much is for sure. So starting with the video card would be my first avenue for trouble shooting. It's like when a PC has no power, what is the first thing you check? It would be the power supply.
