Hey, I've just bought a sound card, nothing too fancy just a plain 'ol Audioexel 6 channel. I fitted it into my Pc, installed the drivers and it all worked fine. However, now, everytime i restart or turn off my pc my internet connection is reset and i have to reinstall my network drivers.. another odd thing that had been happening ever since I installed the Soundcard is that the time it takes to boot into windows is about 5 minutes longer than usual.. :S Ooh, and my start up sound has changed. :p

Any idea's whats up?

Okay.. well i tried another PCI slot and I can see what the problem is now.. Windows doesn't take forever to load anymore.. however, my network is still screwed because windows detects my sound card as network card >.>..

check your motherboard manual, usualy towards the end theres a small diagram on irq settings and how pci cards are set up,

usualy boards with more then 4 pci slots or some integraded pci and sata which are NOT southbridge dependednt (integrated on board but as a seperat chip, not on the southbridge/chipset) actually share pci slots and you have to be carefull with that,
as they are in a pci slot, but insted of having the plastic interface slot, their directly soldered to the pci lanes,

Ahh.. I see.. That was probably my problem then... Oh well, I took the jumpers off the sound card and made my onboard sound work.. then i refunded the card :p.

not sure, that dosnt happen unless you have all but one or two pci slots in use,

problem usualy resolved by reorginzing your pci cards like the diagram in the motherboard manual
