Looks like an old 16bit era kind of take on an RTS. Interesting.

Exactly right. It plays smooth and has SupCom-like strategic zoom. It's a mix of classic and modern, that feels a lot like Total Annihilation and C&C. It is definitely worth checking out. You can try the free version on Android, it is very similar to the PC version.

I still remember being in high school on class and thinking to myself, what if I set a line of sonic tanks to fire non stop in front of themselves? That would solve both harkonnen and worms! then asked to be excused for toilet and went home to try it out. Had over 300 school hours missing that year, almost needed to repeat that year. Dune 2 was the title.

The 1.13 "Modder's Update" for Rusted Warfare RTS just got released the other day. Appears that it has been applied to both the Android and PC versions. The performance, AI, guard/patrol orders are all much appreciated. As are the extra units for vanilla. I haven't applied any mods to 1.13 yet, and just might in the future. But for now, I'm quite enjoying the game with the new patch and was playing a little during 1.13's beta release too with good results.

My limited experience has been really good so far, I think I may be enjoying this $5 game more than I should! You guys should seriously check it out!

True, but C&C is still the classic RTS that I know and love. I keep going back to Tiberian Sun like a bad habit. I should check out C&C 1995 tho...been a while since I've burned through the SP campaign there. CnCNet's version is pretty decent, and seems fairly stable. If you want to get the version that includes the SP Campaign and movies, scroll down and look for Single Player in bold, then expand the menu, choose Single Player Campaign (windows). That will download the newest installer. The nice thing is this applies all the patching to make Tiberian Sun play nice with Windows 7, 8 and 10. And it is FREE!

I most recently have gotten pretty far into my WC3 campaign run, having a lotta fun as this is one of those games that just holds up really well IMHO. Sure it has some limitations that I've grown used to with modern games, like WASD panning. But really that is a small price to pay for such a sweet classic piece of RTS gaming. For $10 even today, I'd say it would be money very well spent. Keep in mind I've always enjoyed the Warcraft lore, but really never had interest in WoW. This game is the best in the WC RTS series IMHO.

Next I've been playing back through the Ashes of the Singularity: Escalation campaigns since the recent 2.3 patch and tune. Being a more casual player, I tend to stick to the easier and normal AI varieties...and being time limited, this game I always end up having to save a skirmish or mission, and return at a later time. I really do enjoy this game the more it unfolds and the more it gets developed. Going to be one of those long-term RTS's that is played for years. Especially with Stardock's support.

Lastly, I re-installed Homeworld Remastered, and started a new campaign in the remastered HW1. I was going to play classic...but dammit I want the new snazzy graphics and seeing that it has been so long since I was die-hard classic HW...the change to HW2 RnG combat and formation handling doesn't bother me. The game plays and looks amazing. I modified the control scheme to allow for WASD panning and using the R and F keys for vertical panning. This did remove some hotkey assignments...and I'm undecided if I even care. So far I use Guard more than anything hotkey wise...otherwise I'm all mouse controls. Playing through the campaign has been quite fun and challenging as ever. I forgot how fun tactics could be in this game and how saddened I was to see Shallow Space devs fall off the radar since HW was such a strong inspiration for them.

Regardless... HWR is a solid release now...I know there are still a lot of folks upset about it. At release it was buggy and I played it where I could, but never could stay hooked into it very long. Now I can't wait to get home to play another mission....several times...save scumming to minimize losses and make the best decision and strategy moves. LOL! Not many games are fun to play over and over...but HW nails it and thankfully that wasn't lost in Remastered.

So, I dug into HW1 Remastered, and I'm enjoying it, but some of what I'm reading tells me I might not enjoy Cata or HW2 as much, and I've already done the Nexus thing (so disappoint that the Kickstarter failed ). What's the story on Shallow Space?

Shallow Space went vapor ware... which is a shame. The dev ripped artsits and assisting devs off, then disappeared. When he resurfaced, he had nothing left to give anyone.

Homeworld Remastered is solid, both 1 and 2 IMHO. If anything you should like 2, because HW RM1 and 2 both use HW2's engine and ruleset. That means there were a lot more changes to HW1 than 2. So if you like 1, you'll dig 2. 2 has more action and can be harder, but not as strong of a story.

It's still the old game, no gfx mods or fixes that I'm aware of. I am waiting to pick it up when I have a gaming budget again. I also need to play DoK, which is ground-based Homeworld, and folks that play it say it's quite fun and well done. I picked it up on sale, and have yet to play it.

Buuuuut with the announcement of Homeworld 3, I'll be playing through the series again.

That's what had me digging into HW, to see if it might be worth backing But. Since I can't see anything the Dev's have released saying which platform(s) they'll release on (Steam, GOG, etc) I'll just wait until closer to release. MW5 issued me a refund last month because they decided to change to Epic's store.

One of the last big patches/updates before my favorite space sim's official release focuses on its RTS and 4X-ish empire aspects, which is a lot of what you do in late-game, keeps it relevant here, and I'm hoping folks will take a look if I keep spreading the word.

AI War 2 is nearing release as well, been getting a lot of major updates and more frequent as of late. No official announcement yet but he did mention Oct 22 as a potential goal a few updates ago.

Just bought Two Point Hospital as it was on sale and highly rated. Will check back in later.

edit: I really enjoy the game. It has a nice mix of strategy and sillyness. Lots of options to build and you can control just about every aspect of hospital administration.

I always excited about this game when I discovered it on a gaming site.

By the way, I'm currently playing a strategy game, Unity of Command II (UoCII); it's a hardcore strategy game which you need to learn some basics, such as logistics. The logistics are a very important thing in this game as far as I learnt. Every unit has some abilities that you can use twice in every turn, but you need to wait for a couple of turns to complete their actions. This part was my fault in every new game of UoCII.

two point hospital game trailers suggest it is indeed along the same lines.
when i saw the game to pop up for first time and i watched the trailers my first thought was "hey new theme hospital but with different name". most likely they couldnt buy the rights for the name
today when i checked gog page i saw original them hospital is EA i got it why they couldnt get the name.
