Strix 970 driver issues.

I've barely ever gamed on it, it's mostly sat idle. Just recently I've got back into rise of flight, which is an online ww1 flight sim. I also need to run a joystick and trackir at the same time. Over and over, I get flying, and my display driver stops and resets. If I have AB going, it will unset my fan profile, speeds ect and continue. Now I'm at full load at 0% fan speed! I have to quickly quit the game at that point. This is on a 2nd fresh install of windows, very raw, and older vid drivers. Have lots of other games, they all run fine, even Flight Sim X with trackir works perfect. Any reason a particular game would keep making a video card driver crash, even on a clean system?

And yes, even though this is a fresh install of the game, I'll try another in the morning and report the results. Anyone else here fly rise of flight that could give me info? I was away for 3 years.

Version Afterburner?

Just wondering if you need old versions for W7.

When it comes to games that are getting older problems like that could arise for any number of reasons. I am aware it's only seven years old

Do you have another GPU or a maybe an integrated GPU to try I'm totally Unfamiliar with the game quite frankly I've never even heard of it. So I can only guess it would kind of requirements it has

I'd recommend trying it in it simplest form remove the track IR

Yeah, its peeing me off. I've tried many versions. I finally resorted to buying and installing doom 2016. Runs 100-130fps at mostly ultra settings, and my dam card doesn't quit. I pushed it to max settings, dooms like crazy! So I'll reinstall the stupid flight sim again.....

Oh, and I buy one game every 2 -3 yrs. I just picked doom because I'm an old time gamer. Get it. That's all I can say. Get out yer charge card and get it.....

Think I solved it... Rise of Flight under utilizes the gpu, I get max 40% gpu usage, but good fps at max settings. I had to decrease my boost, just like I have to do with crysis, warhead ect.
The driver stops have, stopped....

Dam, nope, they started again. I'll try updating my drivers, but this is a 5 year old game. Guess I'll have to play doom instead....
