Stuck pixel or dead pixel?

Hello,

I have been very frustrated as my monitor has a pixel that's permanently greyish/black. I think it's a dead pixel. However, when I use that UDpixel utility that rapidly flashes colors on that pixel, I can see it flashing. So is this a dead pixel or a stuck pixel?

Can I fix this? If so, how?


Just to add, I've had UndeadPixel on for hours now, with no luck.

pixelprotector bud, has worked for me in the past saying that I have have mixed results over the years.

mainly I used it for screen burn on a old LCD, always worked for that but have used it to fix stuck pixels in the past.

It is most likely dead. What you think is the pixel flash is really just bleed in from surrounding pixels. It is very unlikely it will every work again. Sorry

No its definitely that pixel. I used a magnifying glass just to make sure.

Stuck pixels are usually red, blue, green or white. Dead pixels would be black.

Yes, there is a chance of anything. It is your responsibility to know if you have the required skill level to attempt any fix and to take ownership of the results.

That being said, there are videos/tutorials in abundance on the web, all you need to do is use your search engine to find them.

I, personally, have used the light tapping method and revived a pixel on a monitor.

Have you tried the software methods, yet?

There are quite a few variations of the manual fixes, like, the tap method or pressure rub or, even a massage method.

Yes I have used UDpixel but no luck fixing it. However, i can see colors flashing. Does this mean its a stuck or dead pixel?

Use one of the apps or equivilent.
Display a blue screen, then, a red screen and green screen, also, white and black (if the apps used allows).
If the pixel is on and working in the tests, then, it may be another problem, other than the monitor.
If the pixel is off or not displaying then the pixel is dead. Which, may be the pixel or the logic circuit or the power circuit for the pixel.
If it is the pixel then you may be able to revive it, however, if it is the logic or power circuit then I doubt if you will be able to fix it.

Dodgy power circuit can causes these dead pixel issues as mentioned.

I had this happen to a monitor a while back when a capacitor decided to give and probably took out something else as well which is not obvious to the naked eye.

Woooooooow the dead pixel went away after DAYS of flashing it with undeadpixel.


But a scratch appeared on the middle of my screen
