I'll give you guys some prices, might make it easier :). (BTW DaMulta, X1950GT AGP would be first choice if it fit, lol).

X800 SE AIW (PAL tuner) - $140
X800XT AIW (PAL tuner) - $210
7600GT - $155
HD2600XT (PCIe, NOT AGP. From what ive seen AGP (when released) will probably be $50-100 more) - $165

All 256mb GDDR3.

I thought you needed an AGP card?

Lol, I do :p.

End to end measures 22cm. (It would have to be a bit smaller though, because thats exactly from one side to the other).

Ok, well for that space I would definately go with the 7600GT (I thought the GT was PCI-E only and the GS was the AGP version?) as it's quite a small card.

Resized pics :).

The card in there (9800 PRO) fits nicely, and the X800 is the same size. Also, the 2600XT's are pretty small cards. (I only chose cards which I knew would fit and would not suck up too much power :D)

Na, they made a 7600GT for AGP (compete with the X1650XT AGP is my guess), and they have good avaliability here in Australia.

the X800XT AIW is a big card. I think it's the same size as the X1950pro

I was under the impression that the X800XT AIW was the same size as the normal X800XT. Look at this pic:

http://www.techpowerup.com/gpudb/details.php?id=133

Unless the AIW uses a bigger stock cooler, its the same card. It looks like it only needs a FDD power connector too.

I would not get the X800 because of the SM 2.0 more and more games are coming out that will not play on SM 2.0 cards

Thats true, but the comp isnt going to be used to game *that* often. It will probably run LAN games like CSS, BF2, FEAR, NFS, etc. Personally, HDR doesnt really fancy me. The only thing that is holding me back is when games dont run on the card because of the lack of SM3.0, like R6V.

Btw, remember the tv has a higher resolution too (which, iirc, would run better on an X800XT due to the amount of ROPS and the 256 bit mem).

After some searching:
http://www.ascully.com/modules.php?name=Reviews&rop=showcontent&id=491

When compared to its nearest cousin, the X800 Pro, the X800XT AIW is very similar in appearance. The main differences are the new All In Wonder purple and gold color scheme and the addition of the TV Tuner and RAM sinks to keep the faster RAM cooler. Despite more features and a faster chip being crammed onto the X800XT AIW, the board is physically shorter than the older X800 Pro which goes to show what a miracle ATI have performed cramming all these features into one of the smallest boards on the market. The power connector in the top right of the card uses the older floppy style connector for space reasons which while not as durable as the Molex connector on the X800 does the job with its included Molex to floppy connector.

:)

i am not sure of avivo cards are suitable for tv-in and tv-out at the same time. might still need a tv-tuner.

He's already got an x1950 in his other comp (see specs) so I'm sure he's aware of how good they are. (I have one too. :)) I'm not impressed with the benchmarks of the x2600. But like others have said it will be more future proof and might have greater resale value.

I've had the x800se before and I'm not sure it will flash to 16 pipes as it only has 8 pipes standard. (mine wasn't the vivo version but I doubt the vivo version has 12 pipes)

If it's going into a non-gaming media PC, I'd say save yourself the money and hassle (sp?) and buy the X800SE AIW. If you unlock it, it's a nice extra, if not, it'll still run some games well enough for the few months it'll be used for still (the end of the year is quite near now... it's been a quick year... hardly noticed it was July already), and the image quality on the TV tuner is supposed to be pretty good.
Other than that, the 7600GT is a great option, and I don't believe the AGP version is any longer, it's just got the core at a 45 degree angle to the PCIe version, and has a HSI bridge, of course, but doubt it's any longer. Also, it's about as fast as a 6800GT in some games and benchmarks, which is nice.

Also will the x2600 fit in the case? From a pic ive just seen of the PCI-e version it's quite long.

The GDDR4 version is pretty long, from what I can tell, it looks like it's about the length of an X1950GT/Pro.
The GDDR3 versions are nice and short, with only a little overhang past the PCIe slot, so I'm guessing the AGP version may not be much longer, if it's even any longer at all that is.

A note with the X800's - The X800XT comes with the media center remote, the SE doesnt. All in all, if they both dont (or do) have the remote, there is a $40 difference.

He's already got an x1950 in his other comp (see specs) so I'm sure he's aware of how good they are. (I have one too. :)) I'm not impressed with the benchmarks of the x2600. But like others have said it will be more future proof and might have greater resale value.

Yeah, I really like the X1950, it just wont fit :(. (Thanks for pointing that out). With the X800SE, yeah it is only 8 pipes standard...Shame its not 12.

Thats a good point you make. Even now, its not used for that much gaming...it just sucks when it is going to be used, and there is lag all over the place :p.

Id get that right now (or a 7900GS AGP for $30 more) if it was that cheap in Australia...but even then, by looking at the cards length (in comparison to its AGP slot), it looks like it'll be too big :ohwell:.

Ahhhh, thats not a problem for me. The computer will be hooked up straight through to the TV using DVI :). (My TV has native VGA/DVI connectors...as well as four lots of RCA, 2xS-vidieo and also composite stuff :)).

BFG version of 7800GS is 8.5inches from end to end
that is 21.6cm long from PCB to PCB ends (not including metal mounting bracket)

I think thats the same size as the 6800. B/c the 6800 I had would fit into the case, I just couldnt get it in (because putting it in diagonally and then trying to get it straight doenst work). To install the X800 Artic cooler, I actually had to put the X800 in, w/o a heatsink then attach the AC to the X800 while in the computer. Was a hard task, but it worked out pretty well :) (28*C idle and 45*C load isnt bad for such a small comp :D).

oh just shut up

Dw, I only found out about them recently. Im shocked that there wasnt more "hype" about it. I mean, we saw the X1950 PRO AGP take off like mad. You would think that the 7950GT (being more powerful) would be more spoken about. I guess not (probably due to its price and how rare it is).
