stutter in games :( (all my problems)

if anyone knows why it's happening, share

I've noticed after palying grid for a while, that i would get stutters

some thing like this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c-BlqGw-PIU , but he has a different problem

that and also sometimes it will freeze for a Split second

i dont really think its the GPU because when i used it in another mobo.. i never had problems like this, but to make 100% sure i will try using another 8800gt i bought from grease when it arrives :banghead:

i hate lags and chokes, even the slightest ones can screw you up in intense games like grid/racing games

BTW im using a 125w CPU maybe thats the case?? whats the max 590 can take?

I get the occasional, how do I say it. slow down? Like the game will run fine then as you are crusing around everything moves in slowmotions for a second or two. Rick22, erocker and I play quite a bit, and we have all 3 had that issue!

Its still there occasionally. I dont know if its their server or a lag hit. Its just too damn random!

I have been through the mill as far as defrags and the sort. Even reinstalled it once to be sure. still have it!

it hasnt been long since ive reformatted so i dont think its the HDD issue

i guess its only grid.. doesnt happen to me in flatout2.

heh just so that you're aware, freshly installed OS's are often pretty badly fragmented.

For real? I've been having stutter problems while watching movies. Happens once every hour or so. Image and sound is still for a second or so, and then it catches up.

Fresh install of Vista on a Velociraptor.

Yeah for real. its not like OS's defrag as they install, they make heaps of temp files that get deleted and then filled with new files... so its all over the place.

check out ultimate defrag - i've got a 'trial' version i can send you if you PM me an email address (or upload site if you feel insecure handing addies out)

#1 thing you should do is reinstall your OS, that should fix the problem, if it does not, then its hardware related, also try different drivers.

I have a similar setup to the OP and on occasion have had this happen in the same game, but a defrag (IO defrag) and a different driver fixed it for me. I also installed the new DX version from MS. I also reset and defragged my page file.

drivers thing. I had the same problem with my 3870 with the 8.6 n 8.7 drivers went back to 8.4 drivers n it's smooth like butta.
