Hey guys, I'm looking for a new game to play over the summer but I honestly don't know what game to play. As of right now, I play Bad Company 2 mainly, with the occasional CS:S and DoD:S. I want to have at least a game or two to play besides Bad Company 2, since I'm getting fairly tired of shooters recently. I'll still play them, but I want a change of pace.

My last resort game is to renew my WoW account and play that again.

I really like RPGs, like the old turn-based Final Fantasy games, but in general I find RPGs to be fun regardless. I just don't know of any recent games RPGs that are good (who knows, might buy the old FFs again).

I was also looking in to some RTS, specifically Total War: Shogun 2. It looks great and I tried the demo. I just haven't really played many RTS before, with the closest thing probably being the Final Fantasy Tactics series (yeah, I like FF).

So, any suggestions would be great! Thanks!

For summer time? Go outside man.

I honestly haven't seen too much that interests me lately, except Portal 2, but that doesn't have nearly the longevity.

I'm always outside, living the night life. But during the day when it's hot I like to play something when I'm not at the pool. And also, I'll be getting my wisdom teeth out soon so I'll have nothing to do during my down time. Oh yeah one more thing, I'll be building a rig in a couple days once my order comes from newegg so I'll need to test that out with games ;)

If you don't mind *crappy* graphics, play some of the old legendary RPGs, like Fallout 1* & 2*, Planescape: Torment, Baldur's Gate 2 (I didn't really enjoy the first part)
Those games have the potential to take more than a single summer from you :D

As for new(ish) games, Borderlands (with all DLCs) is pretty fun (shooter-RPG hybrid).

And, since you seem to like First Person games and MMOs, try checking out Darkfall Online (they have a 14 day trial) - that game might be a bit rough on WoW players at first ;)

EDIT: Another great RPG came to mind - Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodlines*

* = be sure to install community patch for those games because they do need it (bugs :( )

Yeah, I quite like Borderlands and Fallout 3. Lots of gameplay time, no monthly fees.

Emulators can bring a great blast from the past. I just got done with MGS1 on epsxe—a bit tough because the emulator kind of bullshits you sometimes, but still playable.

Thanks for the suggestions. How is The Witcher 2? I know it's not out yet but it seems really intriguing and possibly my type of game...

If you liked Witcher 1, play Witcher 2 too.
If you haven't tried Witcher 1 - try that :)

And yes, Witcher 2 does look good and we'll see soon enough how it really is

Heh, I have three versions of that game. Original, Greatest Hits and Twin Snakes. Still haven't beaten the damned thing.

I would suggest the Monster Hunter series... PS2 had Monster Hunter, Monster Hunter G, Monster Hunter 2... wii has Monster Hunter 3. Great adventure games that you kick the crap out of huge dinosaur like monsters and wear their asses like a hat! :rockout:

thats a hard comparison. FPS's I play a lot, but for short time spurts, if I'm going to play an MMO its when I'm sitting down for a few hours.

Maybe Darkspore. It is a game you can't really beat and to get anywhere in it, you got to play...a lot.

Minecraft is a good time waster too if you like that type of game.

Napoleon Total War, witcher 1\2 ( due tomorrow ) and company of hero's and did you ever try Arma 2 with the addon as that game has a different pace to your typical FPS but has a massive learning curve and is a love or hate game.

Shoguns a load of fun to play btw.

I'm always outside, living the night life. But during the day when it's hot I like to play something when I'm not at the pool. And also, I'll be getting my wisdom teeth out soon so I'll have nothing to do during my down time. Oh yeah one more thing, I'll be building a rig in a couple days once my order comes from newegg so I'll need to test that out with games ;)

wisdom teeth = down time ? How can growing teeth bring you down ?
I'd waste my time on morrowind/oblivion/fallout games if I had the time.
Just curious where do you get money for pool+games+night life+new rig?

You play 7 with an emulator? I've had the computer version for some time. It's about as good as I remembered it. The humor is still there, the graphics are still blocky crap, and the ending still leaves the bitter taste rushed completion in my mouth.

Down time as in I'll have nothing to do. Once I get my wisdom teeth pulled out, I won't be able to do my usual stuff like working out or else the stitches will open up, and I'm sure I can't drink. Games + Vicodin :)

As for the money, it's usually spent on tuition along with the other expensive stuff that goes with college, but since it's summer I don't need to spend it on books and what not.
