So all the numbers check out if you do the math. ;)

It actually came up $5 and change short since I guess you used a credit card but I used a coupon code promotion for $10 off so I ended up with $4 and some change left over. But yes, you were charged the correct amount ignoring that $4 and some change after all parts were bought.

I said for you to contact me first if there was damage to the package because the Post office would only let up to $675 insurance on that package to canada for some reason. ;)

PM me if you want your customs form #

Yes! The package has finally arrived!

The total payment for this new ultra-super desktop is a total of:
939.8CND + 169CND = 1108.8CND
(parts + shipping from US) (Our wonderful Canadian tax)

And... after carrying my treasure home, careful not to make the rattleing sound too loud, I opened the box, opened the inner box, undressed the wrappers, opened the casing. Not to my surprise, something went wrong somewere between the destination and source probably caused by overly muscular man overly impressed with their strength.

The RAM chips fell off, the metal shelve that holds the hd dr and the DVD dr became deformed leaving the hddr dangling in mid-air, couple lose wires seem to have came off. Well, thanks to my previous exp taking apart my "super"desktop, I plugs back as many things as I can and moved and screwed the hd dr to the lowest section in the shelve. All seems to work great:). The desktop runs, loads, plays music and everything :)

I only so far have one small problem... the earphone plug doesn't work :(, the wire comming from that socket originally was not connected (to the motherboard?) I read up on the manual and guess the spot then plugged it in, but it didn't work :(. Any help on that?

I have 1 questions though, how do you partition a drive say C drive into 2 drives call it C and D drive? the 500GB hddr is huge so I thought it might be a better idea to make couple partitians out of it. If I try making more partitions out of C, will that wipe everything in C out? C is my only partition atm :(

you can possibly resize it, but the normal method would indeed wipe out the OS.

Its possible hte headphone jack needs to be enabled in the BIOS, or in the windows software - some of my systems see them as two different soundcards, so i had to set winamp to use the 'second soundcard' to get audio out th front (the card was actually labelled front audio)

well it seems that the driver is installed in and the bios part was taken care off since you can see the Reatek HD Audio Manager icon poping up. However, when I tried to access the driver, it says that "Realtek High Definition Audio - Not plugged in". I dono if I've pluged it wrong or it's just not working. Remeber I found the wire dangling somewhere. All I brilliantly did was find a matching plug vs. the socket. :p

Go ahead and unplug that thing...

The motherboard manual will show you where to plug it in.

The green jack in the back should be for yur headphones aswell.

Take a photo of the damage in the inside and outside if you get the chance, so I can file it with the post office's insurance.

When you take the photos, upload it here and post the links in this thread.

Free image uploading for this site is done here: http://www.techpowerup.org/

i'd unplug it, as its the wrong one.

Theres two audio plugs for front panel audio - AC97 (no auto detect) and HD audio (has auto detect). You need to know what the case has, and what the mobo supports (obviously HD, as it says its realtek HD)

If the case doesnt support HD, connect the AC97 plug and set the bios to have front panel as AC97.

(oh and really double check it, we dont want you to have your front audio hooked up to firewire or something by mistake)

The lose end wire was originally plugged into this plug, F_AUDIO( Front Panel Audio Header), by me which didn't work. It's the only plug with 9 pins (missing pin #8) that would fit the plug according to info provided through the manual. Is there another one somewhere hiding?

well I've just tried the back side. The back side one labeled C(enter)/sub, a yellow? orange? socket works. Well... I don't have a speaker, so I donno if we can't figure this out I guess I'll just have to be patient and reach for that socket when I use my desktop. I've also just plugged in the dangling wire again to the same socket. The frontal one still doesn't work. Any ideas?

With realtek products you have turn on the header with the software or use a jumper. Sometimes its both.

If the ram fell out it should be plugged into the board where I highlighted in red. The left slots of the each grouping of two. Thats for Dual channel which is higher speed.

Lets hope so. This computer is pretty awesome that I put together for him. Its only weak spot is the Q6600 is only OC'ed to 3Ghz because I don't know how his ambient temperature is, where he lives.

You have to worry about ambient temp in Canada?

Global warming must be taking over faster than I thought.

Mussels and how would you resize the partition space without wiping the OS out?

I've just changed the RAM to the designated slots. And damn it burnt my hand X( oww...

I meant to say plug in.

Well... for unknown reasons. When I double clicked my Audio Manager icon. I get a completely different window poping up. It doesn't have half the options listed comparing to the one you or the manual gave me. Any idea? Btw, you know which one is my motherboard disc?

K, I've found button that seems to be saying the same thing, checked it, tried the whole thing again. No luck. Is it ossible that my "Microsoft UAA Bus driver for High Definition Audio" is not installed?

the only way i've ever succesfully done it is to move the hard drive into another PC, and use a tool such as partition magic to resize the partitions. Generally its risky, as you have a good chance of it screwing up and wiping all the data. (well, i am using an old version of partition magic)
