Simple question difficult answer.
The card is an 8 channel. But, How many channels does it support through directsound?
I mean, how many voices/sounds does it support?

it dosent matter as no games support EAX anymore which is what Creatives sound cards were basically loved by gamers for

which means your have cleaner sound then onboard but not a whole lot more functionality wise

but for reference i do believe its 32 individual sounds

that said as far as EAX support goes 4.0

but almost all onboard audio will do EAX 2.0 no issue some can even do 3.0 or 4.0

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Environmental_audio_extensions

but for reference i again i think its 32 sounds and at max i think its 64 sounds eitherway i doubt youll notice the extra sounds EAX is nice for having sound surrond you and give a nice sense of depth but more sounds to me just makes shit sound garbled like to many ppl talking in the same room. Eitherway it wont make a damn bit of different in anything you do as far as music video or gaming you probably wont notice anything more then the fact that supreme FX sounds better then onboard sound
