swiftech mcp 355 died and took out my 280 gtx

well yesterday was a fun day, was playing fallout the new vegas, when apparently my swiftech pump stopped working. i didnt notice anything was wrong untill my monitor turned off.

i immediatly turned and looked at my video card, the green light was red....... stuck my hand in the case and touched the backplate, ouch.... sizzling hot. needless to say i replaced the pump with a corsair pump i had layin around but the card makes a really hi pitched squealing sound now, almost sounds like a slaughtered pig.

i'm gonna have a closer look today to look for busted caps or anything unussual, as far as i know its a paperweight now, any advice to try and salvage this thing. i bought the pump brand new too, the other pump for my cpu is a used mcp 355 probly twice the hours, is this thing gonna fuckin puke on me too?

if you cant fix it ill take it

for parts. the high pitch squeel is the power buzzer going like it detects no pcie plugs plugged in

high pitched squeeling is probably the v-regs.. they most likely overheated and are frazzled... sometimes it happenes anyway and they can vibrate/squeek? but also I've had times where if they aren't getting enough power and/or not working properly they will also squeel :/

it will post but makes a horrible squealling sound like you holding a pig up in the air by its hind legs, i yanked out the entire loop and just threw it in my room was soo pissed.

lol overclocking yea i 4got to plug them in before, sounds the same.

Sometimes its a faint, or slightly load high pitch squeal,

Its a capacitor whine.

The other load as fuck noise, is litteraly scary, because its a continues screaming beep, when you don't have your pci-e power in!

Probably a cap squeel, got really uneasy being over heated so O:

i havent gotten around to taking the waterblcok off of my card yet, its a full cover so i can't tell if there is any physical damage. been getting lost in the new vegas

swiftech just got back to me they are going to rma the faulty pump. tomorrow ill give the video card a good inspection.

ok, just took off the water block and checked it over it looks just fine physically.

so i figured wtf plug her in and see if she screams. got a green light and post with no squeal. didnt reassemble my loop, just posted it with the water block on it, so i didnt have time to put it under load and make sure it's ok artifact free, etc.

guess i got lucky, gonna wait for my new pump to arrive before, i put the loop back together.
