I know. But I hated the stutter of multi-GPU configurations. Some people don't notice it but I always do. It is like frame loss but more inconsistent.

Why not move to i7 X58?

Your Q9550 sells used for more than the i7 920 on [H] and the i7 920 gives it a beat down performance wise. X58 boards can be had for cheap etc........

That would be a better upgrade for you in the long run than switching GPU's TBH. Only because the value of LGA775 high end is inflated right now.

Im not sure about that. Im not really an expert at selling/buying pc hardware on forums.

Sorry. I do it for fun while relaxing at work. It fuels my PC hobby. :)

If you are looking into getting a 5870 I could always help you to find one at the lowest cost possible. I see 5870's for around $325 shipped frequently.

Ha. The only problem is that I have to sell my stuff first, then buy the new MoBo & CPU because I have no money ):

I would LOVE to move to 920 or somethin :toast:

Yeah if you don't have multiple gaming rigs already it would give you a week or two of gaming downtime for sure.

Sell the 4890's and grab a single GTX 460. I have played with 4890's and they don't scale well enough to justify running two IMO. If later you want more performance just grab a second GTX 460 for SLI. I am just using 5870's in my gaming rigs right now but the GTX 460 is the first card of DX11 land that I can really say is a great buy. I enjoy experiencing the latest tech though.

you're kidding me? 4890's scale ALMOST 100% for all games! I've been with a single 4890 for a year and a half and when I got a second 4890 this year since 1 4890 was starting to become sluggish it improved my frames two fold.

It really depends on what CPU you have, if you're running a Q6600 quad core EVEN with an overclock its not worth buying. BUT I see you have a Q9550 @ 3.7ghz which is still very decent. I would sell the 4890's but I would not even bother if it was below a single GTX480, since a GTX480 would almost or actually be a side grade from 4890 crossfire and its just not worth the handling time. Anyway these things still go for a decent price I was able to sell them and buy my 5970 which only cost me half price thanks to the 4890's that were sold.

My advice would be stick with the 4890's and upgrade other parts first.
