Synology today launched DiskStation DS1019+, a 5-bay desktop NAS with excellent performance and scalability, right for small offices and IT enthusiasts.

"For professional home or SOHO users, it's always struggling to find a NAS server providing outstanding performance, scalability, and applicability at the same time. DS1019+ eliminates all your concerns with a compact chassis design," said Kevin Meng, product manager of Synology Inc. Only in a NAS can they launch a product in 2019 using a budget processor from 2016 that was replaced in 2017 (J4105) and still charge a premium. I can only assume it's because they wanted to save a few dollars by not having to use DDR4.

To me this looks like the minimum viable product for a NAS, but since it's positioned for SOHO, it's definitely not priced as such.
