Well my systems build is done, and now its ready to OC can eany one tell me the best way to start vary expensive system getting kinds scared to OC but I bilt it for extreme OC capability's in mind. Will OC shorting life of prosser? See specs what can I expect to reach safely for 24/7 stability.

OC wont necessarily shorten the life of the processor if you do it safely...

Extreme voltages and heat shorten it's life. Looks like you got a good WC system, so you should be alright with a good overclock.

I would wait for some of the c2d overclockers to see this thread to give you some advice on OC and c2d chip.

Well youll have to up the FSB incrementally watching the temps. See what it can do at stock voltages. Also remember to change the RAM divider. Just change it to 1:1 for the time being.

  well i really have'nt pushed my cpu yet but i well tomorrow when i get my new ram DDR21000 well you been in the bois right cuz you need to have the mem and bus speed the same to get 1/1 on the mem like i got mine right now but its really how much you want to with out getting to hot you know cuz i was going to try mine at 500X8 and its going to be at 4Ghz so how high do you wanna try it at cuz yours is Bus/Core Ratio: 11 so you just put the bus at what you want the then mem the same but i would like to help more but i got to go to work i wont be on untill tomorrow and hope my ram gets here early :toast:

Well I hope to get 5.5Ghz ,That's almost 100% oc ,but from what I hear my system could do that.

A 100% oc on an x6800? Doubt it. Also, out of interest, why didnt you opt for a qx6700?

5.5ghz would be very close to the world record. Im pretty sure youll need an LN2 setup for that though http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/showthread.php?t=59753

Ok was not shore if that was a little to high or not new to oc. I did not get the qx6700 because it was not out yes when I got mine. But if I can get my brother to by mine i mite get it not shore yet .I'm not a gamer so the set up . I have is a little extreme for the things ,I do on it. but I'm a got to have the best kinda guy.
