Hi guys,

The title says it all: after watching a couple of Youtube videos, my whole system (including the windows desktop) turns into a stuttery mess, and I have to restart it to make it work properly again. Why can it be? :(

I posted this in the AMD GPU forum because I never had this issue with an Nvidia card in the same system. System specs are in my profile, and I'm on Windows 10 21H2 with Adrenalin 22.5.2 and Chrome.

I'll try that, see if it helps.

Although, the whole system keeps stuttering even after quitting Chrome.

Edit: Disabling hardware acceleration seems to be working for now. I'll report back later if it changes. Thanks for the help. :)

Hw acceleration in browsers has been nothing but a problem since the 90s, its a overlooked function that should be deleted, cpus have plenty of umpf to run videos by themselves with no graphics accelerator

Maybe some driver issue with G-Sync/Freesync.

I had this in the past when exiting a game.

Similar issues here with the RTX 3080 & hardware acceleration on with Edge on YT, I've also seen some corruption when the stream's playing! I'll see if this is an issue with Chromium based browsers or others like FF as well, annoying as hell since last week or so

I don't have problems like that on Edge or Opera. My HW is either RX 580 or HD 620.

This has been an on going issue, it is random, been like this since the first version of Internet explorer to have it. I turn it off no matter the hardware

Thank you all for the replies. :respect:

I had a feeling that Freesync might have something to do with it, as some 3D apps flicker the screen badly when they start. But no.

Disabling hardware acceleration seems to have done the trick. I thought my CPU would die, but it actually hovers around 15-30% usage with 4K videos, which I think is quite good.

Unless it's the combination of Freesync and hardware acceleration in Chrome. Who knows.
