System very slow

My Windows XP x64 install is clean, but it runs very poorly when ever i load up anything like steam ect. Memtest checked out fine on my computer also just to add. I have Windows Server 2003 SP2 installed and all my updates done, but its unbarably slow when ever i do anything. My system specs are listed correctly

Dumb question maybe, but you are running xp64? not server2003? because multimedia acceleration is turned down by default in server..

Has it always been like this?...Maybe a bios flash, if your not up-to-date.

I'm just surprised because xp64 for me boots faster, runs apps faster, I get higher 3dmark and games fps than I ever did in xp32. Hd transfer is higher. So something's not right!

agreed, 100% there, XP64 has always been faster over XP for me, but this slowness is very odd

Well, if you're running it on the x2 system, it should run perfectly. How old is the hd? Have you run any throughput tests on it lately? If the hd is on the way out, that could explain things. Other than that, as long as mobo drivers are up to date ect, should run like a champ! Other than that all I can think of is install using a full xp64 sp2 oem disk, rather than upgrading to sp2.

sounds similar to what was happening with my neibours pc, ran regseeker an defrag'd it an still was slow, but was fine a few reboots later,
