So rumours again start to creep out saying the new revision of Tahiti does exist, and started to spread out very recently (it is said it was delayed from original mid november due to massive amounts of the original chips still in stock).
AMD specifically said no such thing ever existed or was planned, which is something I have no idea what to make of, because we all know how companies lie all the time for whatever reasons.

What do you think?
Me myself, I am a bit sceptical.

You're going to need to post links to these rumours (and not just to other forum posts). An unsubstantiated repeat of a rumour is not even rumour itself but just a feeble mistruth. Not saying you're lying at all but links would go a long way to stop the inevitable slew of nonsense any gfx rumour will generate. o_O

Does it have a lower stock voltage or does it OC better because that's what's supposed to make XTL special.

check ASIC quality too, but that's probably not the most reliable test

The bad news is he didn't overclock the card and didn't do any comparison against regular Tahiti XT (no overclock, voltage, power draw comparison at all).
It's just a simple user review. He bought the card, ran some benchmarks and in-game benchmarks, then posted it as a review.

Here's the link the to "review" (in Indonesian language) if you're interested : http://www.kaskus.co.id/thread/5273...-review-digital-alliance-r9-280x-tahiti-xtl/1

The XTL BIOS string is really just a text string, it doesn't say anything about the actual GPU chip used.
I could imagine it's just a BIOS optimized for lower power consumption.

I am not aware I posted ANY link, lol.
I actually didn't because I don't believe this talk for a second, but was interested what others think.
But check it out: http://wccftech.com/vendors-quietly...tahiti-xtl-core-sapphire-r9280x-dualx-tested/

That's what I think too. Just a damn string.
