Taking into account buying used/ebay, does Arc stand a chance?

So this is entirely a me problem, but I wonder what you guys think.

I have been stuck on an rx480 for forever now and its way past high time to upgrade.
And its a bit sad that there are just too many gpu's to test, which is why I love that you can youtube stuff like RTX3060 vs TitanX or stuff like that.

Anywho, the fasted Arc card, the A770 will be 350 dollars, which is not a bad price.
But I can buy a rx6800 for like 500 used and probably less by making an offer (450 or less) and that card is like twice as good as an RTX3060 which is similar to the A770.
The A770 comes with some games sure, but personally I could not care less about those so yeah.....

What do you guys think about the Arc launch price taking into account used card sales?

id go with a s/h rx6800 , the A770 is not powerful enough to make me even consider it in my view.

ARC does not stand a chance when there are second hand 6700XT, 6800, 3060Ti, 3070, 2080, 2080Ti etc.

Reviews should be out in the next week for the A770, might as well wait. The TPU review should list it in comparison with the RX 6800, but yeah it will probably be far off in performance. Maybe it'll end up not too bad in perf/$ comparatively.
It's a great card the 6800, would highly recommend getting one!

Due to the amount of mining cards on ebay and most sellers won't admit to it, I will only buy used at 1/4 MSRP. I bought a few on the previous crash (2017), and they didn't last more than a year.

this is true, but if we get bum-rushed, then clearance bin for unsold cards becomes a thing - the rtx 2060 just went for v205 on evgas website a month back, and higher-end models from Anpere are constantly getting deals to move stock!

you cant move new models like ARC at-discount when existing cards from major makers are getting similar discounts,

Next year when Arc is being updated with battlemage is most likely when it will be worth a serious look (may be even cheaper for a bit less). Right now? Wooo, there are so, so many sweet deals on great performing cards. There's just no reason to limit yourself.
Now next summer while your rockin that 3070/ti or 6800/xt, looking to cop one as a secondary card (even cheaper)to play with, could be a nice option.

The price seems reasonable, but availability, driver quality, and whether or not AMD and Nvidia respond with price cuts will probably decide how well these cards do.

Intel tried selling dedicated GPU's before. It didn't end well. AMD and NVidia are too embedded in the space, for a challenger to take a significant share of the market away from them.
