The TDBT SuperC is a cool-looking, solid aluminum NVMe SSD enclosure that connects to your host system via USB-C. Coupled with a capable JMicron controller, this enclosure may just be the one you want, from a brand you may not have heard much of yet.

I've had one of these since May, to house the PM981 of my XPS 13 that was replaced by a SN750. It works like a charm. Really does make one appreciate the need for a heatsink, and how hot 45C really is to the touch.

I really would have appreciated this review before I made the purchase; there are so many of these external drives, and nearly all of them have a chunk of negative reviews of some sort from either users who don't know how to use and install M.2s, don't know how to read compatibility lists, or users who legitimately have gotten a defective or poor product.

An NVME with the speed of a SATA....yay?
Even capped at 3.2Gen2 / 10Gbps like all of these are, they're still miles faster than any SATA drive when paired with a capable NVMe and hardly any different day-to-day than when installed within. What do you think "NVMe" speeds really are? The rosy 3500MB/s advertisement numbers that you gobbled up without a thought?

"No IP water-resistance rating"?! Terrible considering the most common use-case of the machines people would connect this enclosure to is in the shower or the bath, sometimes even while swimming in the pool or the sea.

I'd say it's not about use, but about storage and transport. A most basic o-ring costs a few cents
