Tearing, fps drop & stuttering

Hello,
I am a bit concerned. I have recently upgraded my build and now I have the following specs:
GTX 1660
Ryzen 7 2700
16GB ram @ 3200
MSI B450M Mortar
Seasonic Psu 520w (recycled from old build)
60hz Benq monitor (recycled from old build)
SSD 240GB (recycled from old build)
floston winner case (recycled from old build)

I experience really frequent fps drops and monitor tearing while playing games like pubg and fortnite.
I tried adjusting the 3D image settings for maximum performance and the fps drops decreased but the monitor tearing increased.
I also restored default values in bios for the ram frequency which made the frame rates more stable but still drops
The CPU temp while playing video games is around 50-60 degrees and the GPU temp while playing video games is around 60-70 degrees.

I mainly play e-sports games and when I bought the parts I thought they should be capable of running 144+ fps as I was looking to upgrade my monitor to 144hz.

Could you guys make any suggestions on what would cause the fps drops and stuttering?

Is your VSYNC on?

That's kind of "normal" if you play without VSync. Since your monitor is only 60Hz capable, your only options are to try to overclock it to 75Hz and/or enable Fast Sync in Nvidia control panel. Fast Sync will lock your fps to monitors refresh rate, but it will greatly reduce input lag.

I believe UE favors raw clock frequency over thread count but someone can correct me on that.

PUBG does have problems with smooth framerates, you'll never ever get perfect high FPS all the time in that game

If you want to remove the tearing, enable Vsync (or Fast Vsync)

Screen tearing is probably caused by a big discrepancy between the fps the graphics card is producing and the 60hz limitation of the monitor.
You can use RivaTuner (comes included with MSI Afterburner) to limit the frames the GPU produces, chose something a tad above the rate of the monitor, like 70 fps.

Tearing will always happen as long as the frame rate is not synchronized, just capping it will not work.

I agree, I use VSYNC on my TV always to avoid tearing.
On the other hand, when gaming on my AOC monitor, I usually turn VSYNC and GSYNC off, and deal with the tearing (Far less than TV, cant explain why) for less delay. I do make sure that graphics are low enough so that it runs at 75FPS+.
