TechPowerUp today posted a quick update to GPU-Z in the wake of some controversy surrounding the reported shader counts of some Radeon RX Vega 56 graphics cards by version 2.3.0, which we released earlier this week. The new TechPowerUp GPU-Z v2.4.0 comprehensively updates stream processor count detection of AMD Radeon RX Vega series graphics cards, which means the stream processor and TMU counts of the RX Vega 56 graphics cards, including those that have been flashed with RX Vega 64 video BIOS, should be correctly displayed. In addition, v2.4.0 corrects OpenCL detection on Radeon graphics cards running on certain older drivers.

The change-log follows.
  • Fixed AMD RX Vega shader count detection
  • Fixed OpenCL detection on ATI/AMD cards with older drivers

Two fixes would make this v2.3.1, not v2.4.0. Just sayin'.

That's debatable. I think of the third number as a build number, far less significant than the first two numbers.

Great to see an improvement to the program to get around a hack, but displaying incorrect information when someone has flashed the wrong BIOS onto the card isn't a fault of the program. @W1zzard not guilty! :)

You've just described the average work day of a programmer.

People have been asking for ASIC quality to be easily visible for years now. Can we please have it somewhere on the monitoring window if not on the main window.

It keeps getting burred more and more - users with multiple of the same card (SLI crossire) would really appreciate it.

What means "VRM Efficiency"? Should I be worried if that value spikes to 135%? I have RX 560 oc'ed to 1465/2000 and 1.150V. Temperatures are pretty low and don't reach 71C.

Watts used is something new. How does it work? I set it to capture max on my vega 64 and it was showing 234w
