Tencent Preparing to Launch Live Streaming Platform Partner Program to Compete with Twitch

Tencent is getting ready to roll out their new live streaming platform across the US as a direct competitor to Amazon's Twitch. The Tencent live streaming platform has been in testing since March, initially called Madcat, and now branded as Trovo Live. Trovo Live's interface closely resembles that of Twitch and has a large emphasis on mobile gaming which makes sense given that Tencent owns Fortnite and PUBG Mobile.

Tencent has recently plans on the Trovo Live website on its 30 million dollar program to entice creators to the site. Tencent dominates the Chinese game streaming market but has had trouble breaking into Western markets. The Trevo Live Partnership program is set to go live in July and aims to attract 500 influential streamers to the platform. Trovo Live has already attracted some streamers from Mizer and Twitch so it will be interesting to see if it succeeds.

You don't have to, 1 billion Chinese will.

Streamers don't care, they gotta make money like anyone else, and Tencent's dollars are just as valid as anyone's.

Hmmm. I heard about this last night. Apparently Ninja & Shroud got offered a nautical mega butt tonne of money to stream on this new platform but Ninja turned it down after he heard it was run (or part run) by tencent. He dont none of that china bucks. Not sure about Shroud though. he'll probably say yes if they doubled his mixer money.

Some youtubers got offered to transfer over to the new platform as well but of course turned it down again due to tencent.

I was watching a video from Alpha Gaming the other day where he was talking about this service. I went to go check it out and they hardly had anyone streaming anything. Not 1 person was streaming WoW on that platform.

Might do well for the ppl that get banned from Twitch and/or Youtube.

Dr Disrespect got banned from twitch a couple of days ago and someone on reddit said it was because he was offered to jump to another unknown platform and he was talking with other streamers to go there, the post also mentioned something about Google being involved. It is just unfounded, but holy fuck the coincidences.

No - thats something else. Thats why ninja & shroud never agreed to facebooks offer even when FB offered double the money microsoft was paying. Word on the street is, Ninja & some other people are starting up their own streaming service & maybe Dr Disrespect might have been involved thats why he got banned from twitch. Maybe he breached his contact.

From what ive seen. The last moments of his final stream, he was a completely broken man. He knew that he wouldnt be able to stream on twitch again and twitch didnt tell him why he got banned. Why would his mood change so much if he knew that he'd be streaming on another site within the same week or month??

Kind of seems like more reason to stick to Steam and Twitch and avoid Epic. It's impossible to get around the overall China issues entirely though the population demographics make it a impossible equation to alienate yourself from entirely that's a pie equation you can't subdivide your way away from. Certainly not about to go out of my way to knowingly bolster China's streaming service platform though, but that's less of a concern than you know Huawei for example.

it beats me that everyone is so worried about China spying on them, while the US government monitors everything at the same time
it's not like Chin is interested in you video game habits

Yeah because China spying on video game habits is what people worried about China spying is all about...right.

Yes pretty much what you said ( you only mentioned gaming sites) and it's one of the main arguments against Epic in general, that it belongs to a Chinese company (even though it doesn't). If you are worried about spying you should stop using American sites, period. If not you have double standards

And if ethics are what bothers people you should stop using anything American at all.
